I got my credit right away. I also received an email saying they lowered my bill.

I have four lines with 10 GB data plan and the bill was supposed to be about $160. But it came out to about 265. Calld customer care and they said it takes couple billing cycles and the now my bill is down $112. it was a good customer service.

Did the bill show where the charges were coming from for the $105?

That bill was the most confusing ever. But I believe they charged $40 per line. The rep did not even go through all the details. She just give me the credit. That was easy.

OK so heres what I came up with:

I have 5 phones I have mobile share 10gb.

My bill before tax is: $270 per month.
120 for the plan and $30/phone. $6480 gross of tax

IF I go to next my lines are all in. I have 4 in contract 1 not in contract. ATT will change them all to NEXT so my bill will be

$100 for 10gb and $15/phone. =$175/month

So Current plan with buying lets say 5 iphone5s at 200 would cost me over 24 months: $7480

If I go with next and dont ever get another phone my cost is $4200...HUGE savings right???

Now the kicker...IF I want new phones: (assuming I want 5 iphone 5s)
Keeping the current plan would CHANGE from $30/month per phone to $40/month...so over 24 months $7680 + $1000 (for 5 phones)=$8680

Going to next:
I would get 5 phones $32.50/month (Cost of the new phones) over 20 months=$3250
$100 per month service over 24 months=$2400
$15 per month per phone for use of service over 24 months=$1800
Totalling $7450 over 24 months

SO all of this is gross of taxes. So on top of that I would save on taxes as well. It looks like over a 24 month period with 5 lines I would save $30.00 over what I am paying now.

If I KEEP 2year contracted phones (my current plan and get upgrades) Im paying $1230 more.

Someone correct me if Im wrong...but if I never get a new phone Im saving roughly $95.00 per month gross of tax...until I need new phones...

HMMMM
DOES IT PAY TO SWITCH TO NEXT??? Anyone got time to see if my math is correct?

I have the new plan with five lines and I think it's a great value giving that you can add additional phones up to 10 phones.

In my opinion I would rather pay full price for my device and save on my monthly bill. The next program to me is not a smart move.

There's just one other little thing to consider (And even though I've been searching for a few decades for the law that makes it legal, I can't find it):

If you're getting the $25/month discount, the taxes are calculated before the discount is applied, so you're paying tax on $40/line, not on $15/line. I always thought that tax was based on what you pay, not on some number they make up.

I'm not sure how the taxes should be applied, but you could possibly look at another item you received a discount on and see how it was applied.

I'm gonna have to check in to that. My bill for 3 phones has been $265 for the last 3 months. I'm on that share plan as well.

EDIT
Called and got it taken care of.

It's not only cellphone companies. I remember being angry abou this back when Nixon was president, so it started a long time ago. Tax is charged on the full price before any discount. Now I've worked WITH a large city tax department, but never FOR one, so I don't know if anyone's ever done a study to see if the tax money turned in is the tax before the discount or the tax after the discount, but knwing how government works from the inside, I'd bet that adding all the money the major cities in the US are losing by collecting the tax money after discount would pay off a major portion of the national debt, if not all of it. Thank if how much a 5% tax on a 10% discount on 10% of what Walmart sells amounts to every day. Probably more than they pay in health benefits for their employees (which, AFAIK, is about the same as the Martian annual government expenditure, if you don't count the executives.)

I am back with another great news for my folks like me that send lots of international text message from United States. AT&T now offer free international text message from unitrd states and 50gb cloud storage with mobile share plan. Call and get this feature added. I was trying to post a link but couldn't. ...go to www.androidpolice.com the info is there

This was an awesome change. I was waiting for something good to give up my unlimited data, But between 3 people (one being my mom and the other is my wife who's always on wifi in Mountain View), 10gb is more than enough. Especially now that I saved 80 dollars plus get wifi tethering included. So I don't have to fiddle with these rooted methods. I think AT&T made a good preemptive move before they started losing customers to T mobile, despite how poor their coverage may be. I've never really been a disgruntled nor happy customer, but now I can claim happiness.
