This was an awesome change. I was waiting for something good to give up my unlimited data, But between 3 people (one being my mom and the other is my wife who's always on wifi in Mountain View), 10gb is more than enough. Especially now that I saved 80 dollars plus get wifi tethering included. So I don't have to fiddle with these rooted methods. I think AT&T made a good preemptive move before they started losing customers to T mobile, despite how poor their coverage may be. I've never really been a disgruntled nor happy customer, but now I can claim happiness.

I like the change as well. I tried T-Mobile and my coverage was horrible outside my home area.

Regret after change

You all will regret when your current phone is old and you have to buy new phone at full price without subsidize; even with At&t Next the added up price is still way expensive compare to subsidize price. This plan only work for those data hunger. Be caution! Good move At&t ...

Actually, that is not correct, AT&T is not doing this for anything above 10GB, they said it will be $15 no matter what to compete with T Mobile and Verizon.

For the period of two years term comparison, the share plan is still less than the subsidized plan in my case. I don't think it is for everyone. I much preferred the share plan. Tethering also comes standard with this plan which is great.

This plan has worked out well for me. My brother and I were doing a 6GB share plan before they added 10GB plan change. We switched over and it dropped our bill by $30. We then added another person to it and we were able to drop what we each pay down to $48 a piece. Get a discount on AT&T service through my work which helps too. On the phone upgrade side I usually wait 4-6 months after a phone is released anyway, this just gives me added reason to. Doing the wait also allows me to get one on eBay at a decent price because there is always people who don't like their phones and sell them at a discount. That's how I got my Note 3 after upgrading to the 10GB plan.

Well this is different for everyone, depends on everyone needs, I for example still have unlimited data, and a family shared plan but not sharing data, right now am paying 228 dollars a month, in a month I use arround 12 gb average, that even with at&t slowing down my data after 5gb. My wife, kids, mother in law. Hardly use the 3 gb they have allowed, so aT&t wanted me to get the 20gb a month, so I could save what, arround 18 dollars a month, and I was thinking on doing it, until I found out, that if I upgrade anyof those lines to a subsidized smartphone, instead of 15 for each additional line it would be ( 40 ). so lets see 210 a month that seemed less now add up 25 more, I have 5 lines that would be 125 + 210 = 335. But no choose the next plan, okay so how much will that be? 27 additionall for each line so again 27 x 5 =135. So 135 + 210 wow now I would pay monthly 345 dollars. Eh no AT&T thanks but hell no. I will keep using my unlimited data and stay on 228 a month, oh and I updated 2 lines to the note 3 refurbished when it was on 100.00 (stupid me) a few days later the took it down to free. But I still got two more updates in october and december, at that moment I will see if the note 4 is a good buy, and I will pay 300 one time, and I will keep paying 228 a month. AT&T will say, well sir with next you don't have to put 300 down at the moment, but I rather paying 300, one time, than raising my bill to 350. I will then sell my current note 3 on ebay, and that will bring my 300 dollars back.

I guess I don't understand why you guys are complaining. You can still get contract phones on the new family share plan right?

According to the gut at AT&T yesterday, if you do not go on the next plan, and you choose the 10gb plan or higher, it is $15 per phone always, even new customers are getting that cost.

was on next plan but don't feel it's a good deal for single line with moderate data usage. cancel it and switched to tmobile $30 for 5gb. great lte speed and coverage is not bad in my area. going to stick with it.

Don't ever buy subsidized phone if you are under this plan.

An s5 would end up costing $800. $200 upfront and you lose the $25 discount on that line.

However if you do the next 18 you would pay $450 at the 18 month mark. And then they are basically forgiving the last $200. If you can get more than $200 then sell it and pay off your next plan. Most phones aren't worth $200 after 18 mos.
