Samsung Galaxy 20 Ultra 5G? It will be 6,9 inch.

Think I will buy this one... Buttt arrrrr... Don't like Sammy that much anymore.
Had many S and Note series phones in the past and never tried any other Sammy phones But to be hones, I better like Huawei Mate serie.

Or maybe I just wait another year for see what comes up, M20X is still a beast and mine not have a single scratch at all.

S20 ultra 5G with 6.9" curved screen , I'll wait and see the note 20 ultra 5g . Probably 7.1" . Probably $1500 also [emoji1787]

Yeah - the S20 is the first one that has raised my gaze from the Mate20x so far. But I am doubtful about Samsung's promises having suffered them for so many years. They never fully deliver their promise.

At any rate, I did see that there was going to be a move away from curved screens reported until the recently leaked specs.

hmmm. Maybe save on a phone until I am sure the next one will surpass this one.

Damn it!

Exactly, the flagship next gen Note is the one you should have your eyes on. We'll see in autumn. The only thing pissing me off with the mate 20x at the moment is the lack of cases available [emoji1787]

Lack of quality cases yes, there's plenty of cheapo Chinese ones available. For me, the case completely alters the way I perceive the phone and it's been the one thing I've struggled with this phone. I really like the look and feel of the P30 Pro I have in its clear Spigen case but I immediately miss the screen size and stereo speakers on the Mate 20 X as soon as I start to use it so always end up back with this.

Also, I too am interested in the Galaxy S20 series but If Samsung keep using their inferior Exynos chips, I'll probably pass again. And it will cost over €1000 until at least late summer, and I'm currently unemployed. My Mate 20 X only cost £499 in the UK and still very hard to fault.

Have been using the strangest setup. Figure, if I am already being odd by having a strange phone, then may as well make it as perfect for me as I can. Currently using the standard navy blue Huawei case that only covers the corners, top, bottom edges and back. Bought heaps to start off with, but like this one the best. It's looking a little worn, but still doing a good job. Have dropped a few times and the phone remains unscathed. I stopped using a screen protector ages ago, after finding out it affects front camera photos. The screen still looks good. Secret? Phone has a separate pocket. However, grit and dust in between the phone and the case has meant some scratching along the top and bottom behind the actual case. :(

Also, have a swivel ring thing, set at a slight angle to fit my hand and enable fingerprint quickly. Originally, this ring thing pissed me off, as it came with another case... but the picture of the case made it look like the ring was embedded into the case. Dodgy Chinese seller - don't get me started - but probably exactly like this one (https://item.paipai.com/50214636459.html). Which it totally wasn't built into the case as the diagram made it look.

Anyway, turns out it was a good ring, and I like the fact that I can have it slightly off centre on the back - I have gone through two of these. Actually, I have a third but might buy a new (but same style of ) case now and stick it on that.

Black?

Should get me to Summer ... when do Notes come out? Can I really trust Sammy again? Hmmm. Food for thought

Problem with the S20 Ultra is that it is more narrow than the current S10 5G with a 6.7" screen (76mm vs 77.1mm). Phones are getting taller and narrower these days.

I just got an S10 5G and it is pretty awesome. The screen is curved but it seems to be not as curved as the Note 10 (I could be wrong on that but it seems that way to me and I had a Note 10 Plus for a day last week (returned due to damage)). The S10 5G is still quite a bit smaller than the Mate 20 X but overall it seems to be a great phone.

I've been using the S10 5G for a few days and it has been great.....

Until I took the Mate 20 X out of the drawer and powered it up. I switched back to the 20 X.

I admit I would like to see more of the 6.9 Ultra S20. The thing is though, I have experienced the Samsung with the s8+ and earlier models. I kept getting sucked in, and they never fully lived up to the hype. They were good, but always not great. Same with all the phones I have owned actually... And then there is the likely cost to switch to the highest ended Sammy.

This mate20x has simply delivered what it promised and more, but the future for a huawei mate40x or whatever seems grim for a number of reasons including a lack of market (will it even go ahead), no gapps, and locked garden continuing.

Edit: Also, I note the poll has been closed. Disappointed with that. Had hoped it would get to 10000000000000 v 3

Thoughts? I reckon I want to see battery tests on the new Sammy S20. Would love to see a review comparing it specifically to the Mate 20x. Seriously, apart from the price, it looks like a deadset possible replacement. Although, I don't think I could live with a lesser lasting battery performance than what I have now. I can't go back to the needing a charge during the day times. Will it be so much better that it is worth that price jump... that is some price jump.

I'm sure if you turned off 120hz refresh rate it will be on par with Mate 20x . Just wait until they are on hand and check out the XDA Samsung forums.

S20 Ultra is 20:9 and curved screen - yesterday I get my hands on and it is just disgusting, like a Mi9 just 1 cm longer. I hope Xiaomi will bring this year a new Mi Max 4, with Amoled and speaker like Mi10.
Totally agree. I loved my original Mi Max, even though it wouldn't work on AT&T correctly for me. Great feeling phone though.

Hello, I m in the same opinion... I would appreciate applying a new version of android on this good hardware but i'm locked because of this bootloader... Funkyhuawei sold for the weekend bootloader unlock code but at 200 Dollar it was too expensive for me. I'm steel waiting but in few month i will try to have look on oneplus store and maybe if nothing goes right for this device get one Oneplus 8 PRO to replace this phone.

I bought a Chinese Oneplus7t for a friend and installed the Oxygen OS. Was such a lovingly smooth way to do it. I had the phone for few days. I learned that it was simply too small for me these days. At any rate, I feel like the Mate20x has left me unable to use smaller phones. I am reminded of the Reservoir Dogs scene (I think?) where Mr Pink? discusses the meaning behind Madonna's song. 'Like a Mate 20X, touched for the very first time.... etc...' - obscure reference - I know.

I also felt the camera was not up to the same standard. It is very difficult to go past the Mate 20X camera. Even after well over a year now, this is the first phone I have owned that stood toe to toe with its newer (by a year) competition. I wonder if the S20 night mode will catch up?

Funkyhuawei 200 dollar thing? Being stuck on Android old? A disgrace. Makes me hate this awesome phone even more. Yes - I am fully aware of my hypercritical stance. It sucks!

Being from China, and with an Android passion, I have also bought a few of these for friends. I didn't mind them, but I felt they always felt a little plastic-ie. And you know, the camera, I mean c'mon. right?

Why are people getting rid of phone, mainly the International version?
I don't know. I reckon I am lucky to have had a few hands-on with other phones. Nature of the beast I guess. Hard not to be a tech fan who watches phone reviews and not get swayed. It is a weird thing. These people get paid to show how good tech is, and also they need to be in the pocket of the phone companies too. The really good ones make it entertaining too. They work haard and deserve their rewards, but it is up to the individual to see through it all... which is unlikely as we are probably already very addicted to phone life, ay?
