Two days ago I decided that my z1c has suffered enough. It is already on its second battery and it lasted for 2 months with good battery then the problem returned. It can even shutdown at 86% battery and I cannot top 30 mins SoT...And if you think that is not enough, I also changed the USB port which died after 1 year and now it died again and it barely charges on magnetic now. Sony phones have great potential but is superseeded, as most companies are nowadays, by more budget friendly devices like Xiaomi, especially in my country. I decided to buy a Xiaomi Mi6 as it has a great price, good cameras and monster performance. R.i.p Z1c.

I had one z1c but it stopped working after a "bath" in the sink (with the flaps closed). I gave sony a second chance, buying another z1c (this time black :p) and after almost 2 years I'm starting to see battery problems. 2hrs screen on time with moderate use, ranodom shutdowns with about 30% battery left and refusing to turn on without charging. I'm a bit dissapointed. I'm thinking about Oneplus 5 but I heard it also has its own issues. I'm paranoid that its battery will die even faster because it has dash charging.

Hello Xperia Z1C. [emoji4]
I'm planning to keep my phone going for another year or two (fingers crossed)
Bought it refurbished a few years ago and have a 'new' OK battery with 1day 19hrs per charge based on my use.
With 'Blue Light Filter' app I can even get a sudo Android 7 night reading experience.
If the battery or phone dies I'll look at an Android 9 or Android 10 phone or whatever at the time.

While the going is good, string it out as long as you can I say. [emoji1]

And now with the Xperia XZ1 Compact on the horizons there may be a reason to wait...

I seem to be lucky: I bought my Z1C back in May 2014 en it still does 3-4 days on its original battery using the last official OTA ROM from Sony (with light to moderate use). Even on heavy use, the battery still lasts at least 2 days.

Very happy with my Z1C and hoping to get at least another 2 years out of it.

Dude, if you really wanted to keep your phone and it was only a battery issue, then you could have replaced it. That's what I did with mine. A few bucks on eBay and a hair dryer did the trick... :) If you haven't thrown it away, you can still give it a new life!
Cheers!

Having had my Z1 Compact for about 2½ years it finally decided it had had enough. A couple of weeks ago on a day out the battery died even though it was fully charged before leaving home.

I tried factory reset, reflashing the firmware and countless reboots before deciding it was definitely a battery issue. Once it got down to 65% it could die at any time. Shutting down the phone and rebooting caused the charge to drop by 5% every time.

Thought I was gonna miss this little phone a lot, but I bit the bullet and got a new Sony X Compact. Gotta say I'm very impressed with the new phone. I can see why sony didn't update the Z1C to Marshmallow as the integration on the new X range of phones is pretty impressive. I'd wanted to get a Z5 Compact, but my provider had stopped supplying them a few weeks ago so I'll miss the waterproofing but then again, I'm 2 ½ years I'd never submerged my Z1C in liquid.

Good luck with your Z1C's and thanks for all the hard work put into ROM's etc. here but for now its goodbye and I'll be in the X compact threads.

:good:
