someone post official GMS update for chinese 2.2 rom
"bbs.goapk.com/thread-49648-1-1.html", it's in chinese
i'm downloading it and will give it a try
if it works then only root is needed for 2.2 rom

put into root of SDcard, flash via recovery
wipe after flash
now i can use market and gmaps

If that's the case... Couldn't you just prepare an update.zip that adds root privileges, and flash it the same way?

I was just thinking the exact same thing!

All you chinese XDA'ers now have a new mission: Track down the source of that update.zip!

Yep... probably. But why would they first send out a stripped/de-googled (read: crippled) firmware, and then post the update.zip?

Can anyone try and create another update.zip that will flash successfully on this ROM? If so then it opens up mega possibilities.

If this is truly signed by Motorola, maybe it's because Google isn't on good terms with the Chinese government, so Motorola created a backdoor way to get Google Apps on the phone.

With 2.34.1 and with stock rom I get a error message like

but with android robot. I didn't try this yet because I don't know if its normal.

It's ok? I will have the recovery in this rom?

Will this update work on device sold in China,PRC?
I got it directly from retailer with an official 2.2 rom inside.Enough tolerance to Moto adware.Want to blow them away and install a fully functional google app setting.

P.S:
1.What does the 2.51 or so for the roms mean?Don't think that's calling the rom,since 2.3 hasn't arrived yet.Affraid of bricking my device,I didn't attempt flashing blindly.
2.Anyone seeks luck with CM mod for Defy?Raised as a CM fan.
