They disable it because they want you to upgrade. If u get best camera in mid range devices with the help of Google Camera. Then you will be using your device for a long time but they don't like it. They want you to upgrade to the next device .
These devices are not developer friendly..

But this is still not an explanation HOW Huawai could technically disable an app on a device where I have root access too. Meaning, there have to be ways to use Google camera.
We also have sources for Kirin.

There are apps which are made general to work for all android devices but this app was specifically made for pixel devices. Lots of developers did the hardwork to get it work on other devices.
There are two things hardware and software.
For Google camera, camera2API should be enabled and there should be access to camera hardware to get the work done by Google camera.
If camera2API is enabled then there are lot of chances that Google Camera will work.
Another one software but most of the company's aren't disabling the Google camera. But if the company wants to do so they can because they have the full access to the system they can do anything.
It not a big deal for a company to block the specific app. Its like there is a catcher in the system for a specific process. If that process starts it simply blocks that process. These are simply restrictions.
These people can manage it in anyway.
If you are not from programming world then it is a bit difficult to understand...

No man, there is no way. Try to set the model without Nexus 5 and 6 because in Nexus 5 and 6 there isn't any hdr processing. If you set the model other than (Nexus 5 and 6) the canera will freeze. The only thing is there i.e HDR. If it works then everything works.
I'm not sure where you are getting your information from, but I was able to unlock my bootloader with the laest .188 build with no problem.
I heard it from the official xda YouTube channel that there are some third party companies who are providing bootloader unlock service in 40 to 50 dollars.
But why are you jealous of these things. May be you have shares with this company ??..

boys i have good news for you. I have found a gcam where hdr is now processing smoothly without any blue or pink Tint even now portrait is working. I will suggest you the settings and i have tried on my Honor play and you can try on yours..
Instructions:
1. Download link

3. Give all permissions,
4. go to settings --> Saturation Adjustment --> Highlight Sat to 2.5 and Shadow Sat to 3.5
5. Go to hdr white balance -> turn on Apply custom white balance multipliers -> set the blue option to 70%
6. Go to Advance Settings -> main camera -> manual fixed black level offset -> turn it on
7. Close your app and reopen app [needed]
Enjoy Google Camera on your Honor Play you can check it on other devics. i have tried on Honor play

He isn't even using a M20P.
He said he was using Honor play.
It doesn't work on our device.
Why I shared it here is we have the same EMUI 9 and our processors are nearly the same and this camera is also working on mate 10 i thought it may work on yours also...

It does work on mine you need to disable motion photo
