i am currently on latest update, stock, UN-rooted, UN-locked..

will this app work on mine? or should i enable Camera2 api?

thanks in adv..
No, it'll not work. Either you have to root your device or have to flash any custom rom in which cam2api is pre-enabled, like pixel experience rom or omni rom. :fingers-crossed:

Says "Can't Open File" I am running ElixirOS based on android 8.1. PS: Camera2api is already enabled in this custom rom.
During installation or during opening the app? If it comes during opening gcam, then try this app 'manual camera compatibility' from playstore and see if all the 5 things are showing green.. if not you would have to root your device to enable it.

ok, stock global rom miui 9 stable., magisk rooted, camera2 enabled. i installed the google cam from here:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/themes/google-camerawith-hdr-mido-t3656196

and it kinda worked, but the hdr+ setting made no difference to the photos i took. i decided to compare so went back to stock camera, which takes normal photos fine. enable hdr, take a photo "unable to connect to camera"

i uninstalled the gcam, but i still have the same issue with the stock camera. as long as hdr is disabled it works.. enable hdr, "unable to connect to camera"

so now not only do i not have the improved HDR of the gcam, i dont have an HDR at all!

advice most appreciated.

edit: so ive tried a later gcam mod, and got it working, but it seems that some part of this modding just ruins the stock miui cam? it only works in basic photo mode.. hdr and panorama mode both cause crashes. big shame cos the panorama mode on the gcam is surprisingly crap, and i use panorama all the time.
did you fix your problem?i got also on mtk redmi note 4x,stock camera not working on HDR ?

Is there a setting to change, in order to put all photos from Portrait Mode in default DCIM folder, instead of creating separate folders with 2 photos? It's very annoying.

thank you very steadily

Both rear and front cameras are rocking with Fully Working Portrait Mode, HDR+ and more!

Recommended Android Version is 8.0+. But you can try on other Android versions as well.

I will update this thread daily :) Enjoy!

NOTE:
1. I didn't make the app nor developed any single thing on the app, I just shared the app link. All credit goes to the actual developer (or developers). Thanks, Man!
2. Not sure about other devices, tested and working on my Redmi Note 4 (MIDO).
3. It is rootless. (Let me know if there's any issue with this)
4. My Redmi Note 4 is running AOSPExtended Custom Oreo 8.1 based ROM, and its working. (May or may not work with MIUI, all Custom Nougat ROMs)
