I have done some more testing with GCam5.1.014-Arnova8G2-v9.1 and MGC_5.1.014_7.0H_C2API_v.1.3_AllinOne (Settings Pixel (corr); Nexus 6 (max paramaters = High); Default.). I was mainly focusing on maximum image quality and not default processing.
* Auto post processing on ported APKs is bad in tested conditions (forests). Especially blacks are often crushed. White balanced is a hit or miss. Overall sometimes it looks almost natural, sometimes as an artistic interpretation.
* DNG from ported APKs retain all detail of HDR+
* DNG from ported APKs are better than normal DNGs (used Camera FV-5). Main difference is noise, which is more under control. Dynamic range is better, but it's hard to test. Noise from Dark Current is reduced.
* GCam5.1.014-Arnova8G2-v9.1 seems more stable for taking DNGs

I did some photos today with this camera. I used GCam5.1.014-Arnova8G2-v8.1.apk. Settings Pixel (corr); Nexus 6 (max paramaters = High); Default.
I compared HDR+ on/off and HDR+DNG. There is some significant overprocessing especially on blacks, but processing DNG from HDR+ works well. Small comparison gallery with comments - https://imgur.com/a/gPAAy .

I wonder if other versions have such aggressive processing. I will do comparisons between HDR+/HDR+DNG/DNG some other day.
I used that Gcamera but I went back to V30. I had annoying issues with image sharpness. Have you tried stock rom with forced HDR on? It takes great pictures. Much better than without

Sent from my LGE V30 using XDA Labs

v30 version of GCAM? Could you point me to the link?
I tried only few versions on the stock ROM and they didn't work.

Do new versions of Gcam work for you?
For me the last working one is GCam5.1.014-Arnova8G2-v9.1
As in the Arnova's 5.1.014_v10.2, there is no more the Nexus 6 setting that worked.
