Hi everyone - updated my summary post. Changes include:

Stock OOS camera's front portrait mode doesn't break anymore and works alongside Google Camera -- thanks to @MrAimenify for figuring out the hex edits for this!

Yes, Front Camera Portrait mode was added in Open Beta 17 for OP5 and Open Beta 15 for OP5T.

Hey, i am installing every update from arnovas mod since i have my OP5.. 03.01.2018.
Version 7.9.7 is the only version in which i am able to get the hdr to kick in in "Hdr ON" mode. Not talking about the enhanced (+) mode.

I need to have the enhanced mode always enabled, before i want to take a photo i switch to hdr on mode.. After photo i need to switch bach to hdr enhanced..
Thats the procedure

Hdr on mode when you see the tick activate in the hdr icon on top..
In every other version hdr will never kick in... No matter what i do.
Any idea what could be the isdue, would be awesome if this feature would work in the new versions.
For me the hdr on images are the way to go, look more realistic and much faster...

hello, the latest update brings back portrait mode on selfie camera.. but its still broken, the depth effect is applied only before you take the picture , when the picture is saved there is no depth effect (the picture is exactly like with normal mode selfie).. thank you for your hard work, you are awesome guys!

I noticed that too. I did more testing. To my surprise, stock oos front portrait works when in low lighting. When there's enough light, it clicks only normal selfie eventhough it shows depth effect before we click the picture. I've removed the magisk gcam fix but result is still the same. Not sure if the oos front portrait mode itself or the gcam module. But tbh I don't mind at all because gcam's picture quality is still unbeatable lol

How do I know if HDR's working? I'm using the Pixel experience pie rom. When I take a pic there is no HDR processing notification like on my Pixel XL. Is the 835 so much faster? And I don't really notice a difference with HDR on or off so I think it's not even applied.

You need to use HDR+ enchanced

So that means HDR doesn't do anything now. Only HDR+ enhanced is working.

I installed MGC_5.1.018_v2e_tolyan009_v1.4.apk like in the quote. Model Pixel XL, config Pixel 2016 zsl hdr. (also tried some others like nexus 5x and it was about the same) HDR and ZSL working, comes quite close to my Pixel XL side by side. Only front cam portrait makes a pink picture but I haven't installed any magisk camera libs yet.

I realized this was never posted in this thread, so for those of you who might be wondering why Arnova8G2 has been missing in action for sometime now, it's because he met with a motorcycle accident and he's in the hospital, where smartphones and other portable electronic devices are forbidden. The accident was a major one and he's started to use the wheelchair now and hopefully with rehabilitation/physiotherapy, he'll be able to walk soon. Let's keep him in our thoughts and pray for his speedy recovery.
