The 6.2.030 v2.2 update is not working for me. I get a black screen in Camera mode. I am on Android P (latest security patch).
Reboot your phone.

I did s quick test, everything seems to be working, think HDR is quicker now. (I'm also on latest stock (& unrooted))

Yeah, unfortunately I tried that already. Oddly enough, video, panorama, and lens blur display an image on the screen. Not sure what's up. I am stock rooted with Magisk and the "Make your own GCam" Magisk Module from aer0zer0 installed.
Edit: I tried disabling the Magisk Module and rebooting. That did not work.

First off, appreciate the "heads up" on the new update. Thanks for keeping all of us informed.

I took at look at How to import settings web page that the DEV has posted. Are you using the Essential PH1 XML files with your camera app?
I took a look at my internal storage and I don't have a "GCAM" folder anywhere on my device...

Annnnndd it helps to READ the information: "This folder needs to be created manually using a file manager"

No issues here. I'm on stock OB14 unrooted

So I may not have updated correctly, first time to up date gcam (sorry), I did a "dirty" update, just installed the new cam without uninstalling the previous version. Everything seemed good, hdr seemed faster. But then I noticed I had two gcam in settings>apps so I deleted old one, then I got the black/blank screen in camera & portrait modes.

I was able to fix the black screen by going to settings>about>advanced. After turning on advanced option the gcam app automatically restarted & then everything was working correctly.

PS. Yes, I'd set up config files with previous build, so the folder was there with the correct essential config files (though this file only works with v1.4 to 1.7 not the 2.2 ver I currently use)

Apologies if I caused confusion

No confusion at all. Strange, I did a dirty install and I only have one GCam in my apps list. Wonder why that happened for you?

This is the first time I'm using the config file on it so that was a good find. Not sure what the difference is or if it's better than without the config files.... but it's still cool that it's there. lol

Hopefully this fixes my "can't take a picture while in Hangouts" problem. Launch Hangouts, go to send someone a picture, click the picture Icon in the app, camera loads, press shutter, nothing happens"
