anyone know if the newest version works in China? *yes i am rooted* the previous version did not work ( navigation didn't work )

You can install signed(type2) only.
Some time it happenes, in that case you have to install map from market and have to clear wipe from titanium and then uninstall. After that try installing type2.
Otherwise use type 1, rename type 1 file to maps.apk and put in system/app folder and change permission rw r r

I used the first one and it still shows that there is an update.
This varies on region, otherwise 6.9.0 is latest.

here is guide to get female voice
setting - language & input - Language - set it to English US
setting - language & input - voice recognition - set it google
setting - language & input - text to speech output - google text to speech engine setting - language - select English US
You can now set pitch from setting - language & input - text to speech output -speech rate
Now it will be female voice. with your desired pitch.

I am using ivona voice with british voice files. Its free : )Yea...male voice now. Previously it was a female.
