If you are zoomed in close enough you just have to drag up or down to get the 3D effect. Hope that explains it well enough. Took some playing with to figure it..

Try using your thumbs to get used to it. Left thumb bottom, right thumb top, and just pull your thumbs towards your hands. It was working fine for me. I played with it for a good twenty minutes.

FYI, the problem with rotating the map is the gesture enabled feature. Nobody here is claiming the map won't rotate via the compass selection on the top right. That works fine and the map rotates the direction you're facing. The problem is the 2-finger rotation isn't working (isn't rotating the map the direction your 2-fingers rotate on the map). The 2-finger 3-D pan option works fine.

Running CM 6.1 stable FYI.

HTC Incredible is listed as a supported device of all features. Wonder what gives...

Both features work fine for me, I'm on SkyRaider Sense.

As others have said, this feature doesn't work on AOSP roms as they are based, almost to a tee, on the Nexus One framework.

Just read up on on the same problem in the Droid Incredible Android Development forum under the CM 6.1 Stable Release thread.

I am on CM6.1 and it works just fine.. in order to use the 3D you have to "tilt" the map down.. .you do that by running two of your fingers donw the screen as a way of tilting the plan view of the map to show the tilted view. You have to be zoomed IN a bit around buildings etc.. close enough to see the 3d outline of the topography.
Rotation with the two fingers also seem to work fine for me.
