im not able to dowload google maps or the binary (.cab) to my lumia800.. please help

You can't run Windows Mobile applications on a normal Windows Phone device. There are various Google Map Apps in the Marketplace. Have you tried Nokia Maps?

gMaps on the marketplace is a good Google Maps client.

EDIT: gMaps Pro is free since yesterday (don't know for how long).

Bingle Maps is also a pretty good google maps client...
