Not sure how many of you have seen this on XDA today, but Google has started limiting you to four device deathorizations per year for Google Music. Normally, not such a big deal, but when you flash a ROM twice a week and have to authorize your phone that often, you will be unable to activate Google music on new ROMs until next year.

Here's the main thread in the Gnex forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26145534

And here's a petition they started about halfway through the thread: http://www.change.org/petitions/google-remove-google-play-music-deauthorization-limit

I'll probably post this over in the Incredible forums, too. I'd hate to have to switch to Amazon's cloud service over something this stupid. :(

signed the petition and this is the dumbest thing i have seen in a while. i hope they change their mind on this.

as of now i only have 3 authorized devices. my home HP PC, my nook color and my Rezound. i have only had to de-authorize once so far and it was when i still had my DX. so it looks as though it doesn't count as an activation when you upgrade your current roms, just maybe when you completely swith to another rom. I am on CR 4.5 and have updated it probably 3-4 times already.

Holy cow. I was just about to post the same thing. When I look at my authorized device list I see like 9 of the same entry for my Rezound and one for my Galaxy Tab 10.1. I don't understand why they would care how many devices you deauthorize. I'm sure there is a reason for it, but I don't get it.

I have six devices authorized right now; two laptops, my Incredible, and three Rezounds. Can't deauthorize any of them.
There's a few posts in that thread that suggest restoring your accounts through TB to avoid adding another authorization. I've never had good results from restoring account data, but if some of you hit that limit, it might be worth a shot.

I didnt even realize they had an authorize/de-authorize setting. i guess apple is rubbing off on google. heh... oddly, after i got google music, i uploaded like 20gb of dance music & rarely ever use the service.

I do this with my amazon account to keep from increasing the number of devices. Works fine for amazon mp3 and amazon app store.
Though I don't think amazon has a limit on how many deauthorizations.

Stopped using google music when at first you couldn't use but 1 google acct since wife and I have different. Would have had to upload all music twice. Amazon didn't have this problem.

I always had the issue with too many devices so now I just restore my app+data and seems to work fine. I haven't had any issues with needing to deauthorize accounts for quite awhile now because I've been restoring data.

Same here, Havent run into any problems yet.

Edit: looks like Google's fixed this problem.

Good job guys, great job by google.
We spoke, they listened. Wish more companies would listen to the customers like google. Love the G!

Crapple would have just laughed in our faces! Don't buy Crapple!

Google seems to be the only company who actually cares these days. Please spread the word and encourage others to support google, and stop patronizing Crapple.
