Question Google Play System update 1st December 2021

this has been a problem since Android 10, 11 and now 12. most don't know about it because they never see this menu.
I've heard rumors that the date is wrong, and it's actually updated in the OS (when you do perform the update). And you can change the date by installing the 40kb file from apkmirror.com.
I've had an open case with Google Support since May and they simply just stopped replying to my case. So the bug is still not fixed. Very bizarre.

They are part of Project Mainline, which started with Android 10. Basically pushing security and other fixes for the Mainline modules. I think there are currently around 25 modules they update via Play System Updates. They do it this way so they don't have to be dependent on OEMs pushing updates. I believe these are the security issues addressed. Not sure if this is all inclusive though.
