I thought DEFY has a gorilla glass which is supposed to be scratch proof and unbreakable even after falling down. Why does it happened to my poor DEFY? Is it replaceable?

Regards,
Gyan Th.

Gorilla glas is scratch resistant. Mine has already got some scratches after about a month of use. Note that the gorilla glass can break too. Friends' samsung G S2. Defy/defy + are built much better but gorilla glass can break too.

I am using it in VERY difficult environment. Defy passed all tests except scratching screen with gloves on, and full of sand. I quess iron cannot scratch but sand can.

I guess the only way to replace it is via Motorola or vendor support?
how much do they charge? anyone has experience?
Or maybe some other way? 3rd Party? (guess not...)
Or maybe if someone is really skilled ;-)

Googling "Defy touchscreen replacement", should turn up both instructions on how to do it, and sources of parts. I'm sure there are threads about it on XDA as well, if you use the search facility.

I put a screen protector on my Defy and it's scratched to hell so it goes to show how much scratching and marking goes on with phones, while the protector isn't very durable it does show just how much general wear and tear goes on with our phones.

Got no scratches and had it for over a year, I have only dropped it certainly <10 times, put it in pocket with no keys, don't get sand on it.

I mix keys and phone all the time and only one tiny scratch after 13 months of use. I practice swimming so my Defy is every day in the pool and glass released mouisture only once but I used a hair fan to heat it up.

Swyped off my Amazing Defy using ICS

My screen broke in January, but there are NO scratches in it.

Since a new one is too expensive, I'm still using it normally, broken as it is.
If it were in my country Norway you would have got a new glass, 5 years rights to complain if it don't handle what it's supposed to. Like the iphone lovers here gets new glasses and apple are scratching their heads as here its the producer/retailers who must prove its a user fault. If they can't they have to fix it. BTW I don't like iphone but used as example as Apple has the worst customers service :)

If only Norway was a little bit warmer I would be emigrating immediately. Any suggestions for a county with similar consumer laws?

And scratch resistant doesn't mean scratch proof. Mine has a few small scratches from sharing a pocket with keys (doesn't any more) a big one form scratching against stone.
