Got an idea? What should I do with my TF201?

Hi,
I have a TF201 that has been sitting unused for sometime. It's in great shape since it was skinned and covered the day I got it.
I've been looking over putting the and Android6 ROM on it but run into some trouble. Seems like I'm not the only one. Am I going down a rabbit hole with this or are most tablets having success?
I'd like to update this and use it for a programming-coding class I start next month (www.primeacademy.io). I want to write code on it and watch videos.
What other options should I consider?
Linux-Ubuntu learning laptop (I don't know Linux but want to learn Kali)]
Windows an option?
Frisbee-golf? :silly:
Thanks all,
Phil

Great thread above, I don't see where the root happens, I used 'Motochopper' to root my TF201 and the Asus provided unlocker.
No need to root.
The root is built-in the ROM.
After ROM first launch, go to Settings -> About.
Tap 7 times on build info, it will unlock the Developer menu.
The root Access can be allowed from this Developer menu.

See ya,

I really did take the long way around, just flashed 7.1.14, was putting my home screen back together and I dropped my microSD card on the floor (at work) and can't find it.
I had the screen shots of my icon set up on there ugggh, 2nd 64GB I've lost.
