General Got the Honor Magic V2

Tell me how it goes, I'm on the fence between them. For me the lack of horizontal split screen and weight is holding me back from Xiaomi.

none of these foldables phones are perfect. you will miss something in each one of these.

to me android auto and google services is most needed. so, mix fold 3 suits me better than magic v2.

horizontal split screen is a software thing which could potentially be added later by Xiaomi.

I finally got GMS beta update!
contacted to customer service 2 days ago, and they had their engineer e-mail me.
and yesterday i got e-mail from their engineer and I told them my phone number and SN and the current version of my V2.
and today I finally get the update.
i was on the list of 2nd beta, but i didn't get SMS for the beta at all.

the previous version of my V2 was 7.2.0.115, so it can be updated even if yours is 7.2.0.115.

good for you. When the support contacted you via email what phone number you gave them? a chinese one or a foreign one. I may do the same as Im on the list too but so far not received any update.

2) You can't really horizontally multitask except for a handful of apps.
If your app basically requires landscape mode (i.e. a video player, or roblox (yes, I know)) then you don't even have the option of playing it on half the screen. It gets chopped WAY too much (EDIT: too much on the inside screen)

I would consider this less of a big deal, because in reality there aren't -that- many apps that force landscape mode, but I certainly would like to multitasking video+something else. As a hack I guess I could play the video sideways in side-by-side mode.

Can you force all apps to horizontally split screen? I tried playing around in a Shenzhen store in person, but only a few apps could be split screen. I'm assuming you need to go through 'Developer Options' to force that in.

Also does choppy mean playing YouTube at 2fps, so it's pointless to split screen? It's that the same with Newpipe or Twitch or games as well? What if you used windowed mode against a full screen app? Will the video / game be smooth?

i used a service called eSender which gives you a chinese phone number can get SMS on weChat app(can't receive calling). it's very cheap, costs you like 3or4 USdollar for 30days.
if you're on the list, you should give a try even if you gave a foreign number. i didn't get any SMS for the update at all.

no i didn't get any SMS from Honor.
i contacted to customer service because i hadn't gotten any SMS from honor even though im on the list of 2nd beta. then they gave e-mailed my e-mail which i had told the customer service.
after that, i submitted my SN, current version of my V2, and the phone number, then they replied that they could confirm i was selected for the beta and gave me update.

Oh I misread the word chopped. Can you windowed mode YouTube widescreen whilst using Chrome full screen though? Or is windowed mode messy to deal with...i can imagine having to constantly move the window everywhere if it gets in the way of the main app.

Also not that I've tried gbox before, but you could look into non-root adblockers like Adguard DNS. That's what I do with my phones without root.

Been waiting for almost 2 weeks but didn't get the update, but when I checked the excel list it was included. So, i had a live chat through My Honor app, and told me to send an email to cust support with screenshots of my firmware version and SN.
2 days after the email and no updates, I followed up again the email this morning, and at 5pm got the updates

After updates, perform hard reset and now everything works well. Haven't tried Android Auto though.

Can you windowed mode YouTube widescreen

window mode is only portrait

Two other quick things while I'm responding:
There are lots of nifty features that only work if you have an honor PC or somehow "Log in with your Honor ID" with your PC. It tried to download the Honor PCmanager but it wouldn't install on my windows 10 box.

I'm wondering what GaN charger will semi-quickly charge both my huawei mate 20x and honor v2. Because the two power bricks eat up my power strip.

after 3 hours using with GMS on-board i can tell that all GMS related it works like a charm as a standard Google certified android device around here.

i have to check well the battery drainining in the next 24 h if something changed or not.

This device is a DREAM guys, in my opinion this is THE DEVICE of the Year.

Just got Mate X5 as well but Magic V2 is pretty much better in all compartments except for the Camera where X5 is superior, but Magic V2 it seems to be a device 2 years ahead vs all all other around in terms of INNOVATION.
