41.3 is right around where mine is (I'm at 42.7) but here's what I've got to say:

When I'm inside listening to pandora on my bed my phone ALWAYS stays above 35 degrees and if I'm plugged in/ charging it is usually more like 38 (I overclock when charging.) Pandora uses your radio, which heats up your phone a lot and it's just an intense program altogether so it's not surprising that it's heating up a lot. I wouldn't worry about overheating but maybe when you know that you're only going to be listening to pandora you can set your cpu settings to just "604mhz" or something lower.

Hope that helps.

OK. Thanks for the answer. I just hadn't ever had a temp warning before and it kind of spooked me. Not sure if the kernal caused it or if I didn't have my temp threshold set correctly. The default in SetCPU is >50 so may have been that hot before and I did not get the warning because I had it at 50. My son set it down to 42. Where are those settings coming from? How did we figure out that we should set it to 42C? Sorry...just an engineer's curiosity!

Thanks again!

Doug

I just kind of extrapolated from my experience with desktop CPU's. I figured that if an actively cooled device like that shouldn't be too much more than 55C OC'd, then a passively cooled SoC and battery on a mobile device probably shouldn't be much more than 40C OC'd.

You can also tell that the low 40's is a good safety limit because that's around when the whole back of the phone starts to feel hot instead of a small area in the center of the back.

From there, I arbitrarily selected 42 as my failsafe temp, hehe.

Conap, really appreciate the kernel. My phone has been running faster, smoother and longer than usually. Thank you, great F'n work.

Hey all, I have had 2 hard reboots (back to the Android skateboards) since using v33 of KaosFroyo (and v34) with this kernel. I'm attaching my last_kmsg from /proc for your examination.

Thanks!

You got a link to this? I'm not seein it over there?
Conap, my apologies - I looked it over again and realized I was mistaken. You're right. Sorry that I bothered you with this, especially while you've been on vacation. I was looking at something else and in my lack of attention to detail, I jumped the gun and then posted here.

Again, sorry for wasting any of your time with this.

Keep up the great work. Both the BFS and CFS kernels rock. And as I've mentioned before, since rooting with wag3slav3's root method, probably 90% of my phone's up time has been dedicated to running your eris lightning roms. They've always ran really fast and stable for me. Thanks for that.

Not a problem...I appreciate attempting to point something out as I can't read the whole internet myself(although I do try lol) so it's nice when people can bring possible things to my attention.

Works great. I don't use GPS much because of the extra drain on battery so I never really expirienced any issues with it. This version does seem more stable. Only issue I'm still having with it is still at boot up. When I reboot for any reason I expirience tons of lag and freezing at first. Usually I can make it stabilize by opening setcpu and switching governors a couple times. This happens no matter if my default is set to interactive or ondemand at startup. I've tried both.

Still, with the performance and speed I get out of this kernel, its not enough to make me use something else. I just deal with it and setcpu force closing a couple times, and then when I get it to work I switch governors back and forth real quick and after that my device runs beautifully and completely error-free.

Still, is there something I can do to prevent these errors at boot up? I can get you whatever logs you might need or want, logcat or last_kmesg. Just let me know.

last_kmsg.txt from recent reboot.

Here is the last_kmsg.txt from most recent reboot. I compressed it by zipping it since the upload manager said that the .txt file size limit was like 87.9kb, and my last_kmsg.txt was 112kb. I was worried it would not upload at all or would not upload the entire .txt, so I zipped it up.

Hopefully you guys that are smarter than I am can figure out what's happening at bootup and if there's something I can do to fix the problem.

Thanks,
Wilshyre
