First off, my hat's off to you Conap. You guys are constantly amazing me with all the work you're putting into our humble devices. I do have a question though. I was thoroughly enjoying V8 with just smartass baked in. Great battery life and I guess I'm in the minority because it was just as responsive if not faster than previous versions of yours, Shed's, Sik's, etc roms. Now with your CPUBoost, I'm noticing significant lagging and hangups. I also notice that the toast popping up advising CPUBoost has been granted superuser permission seems to hold up progress when waking the phone up. I tried tinkering with CPUBoost switching between interactive and smartass, but no noticeable difference. Battery life has gone bad again, as well. I guess I should mention that I'm referring to the last few days on CELB 3.9. Will CELB 3.9, or any of the new versions of roms just coming out utilizing this kernel default to smartass governor with a 710 rev limiter if I just remove CPUBoost? I barely understand enough to even enter this conversation so please, lay all your suggestions/criticisms on me. I'm trying to learn and improve my phone. Again, thanks Conap, Shed, Tazz, Punk.Kaos et al for everything. All your stuff is great; hence, I'm sure I'm missing something/at fault.

celb will default to smartass and 710 max with no cpu apps...I can't speak for other roms but am pretty sure most default to 710. do you have cpuboost set for screen on/off profiles? the popup should only display when it's actually changing the cpu speed or if you open the app. If you have the screen on off profile set you can try disabling that. If your are still getting the pop message when you wake your phone with that option disabled then open setting/applications/manage applications and clear the data for cpuboost. If you don't have set at boot or screen on/off profiles enabled the app won't actually do anything to the phone.

Yes, I had screen on/off profiles and set at boot enabled. I'll just disable them and see if performance returns to V8 standards. Thanks for the quick answer.

You could also try flashing v8 cfs kernel over the rom and see if that kernel works better for you.

Well this looks like a good place to plug my new app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867667...this will let you change the governor....I actually wrote it because so many people were wanting to change away from the smartass governor so it should be just what you want...
Oh cool thanks man. One question though. If I back out of the app will it still be running and have the cpu settings applied? Just because I don't want it messing with the settings I already have set with the battery tweak.

CFSV9

I was vary exited about this kernal. The camera and video work on froyo. Then to my dismay android market was not installed on it and was unable to download the needed zip to get this running because the site cryo.... wouldn't let me fully register. The phone is worthless without the market I Sony care if the cam worked so beware everyone. Kaos and caleb should team up because caleb has figured out how to get working what kaos has not and kaos has everything else working great.

This is a Kernel not a rom. That being said if you are refering to celb froyo then you need to flash the gapps package after flashing the rom to have all the google stuff such as the market. It's in the op of the celb thread.

I'd Appreciate Any Input From You Gurus Of ROMery

All was well until I flashed the CFSv9 kernel. Now I have only one problem and everything else is much better :) Long story short... I was using KFv35-1 for awhile. Then I started thinking I was getting behind the times so I flashed KFv38 and CFSv6 doing only a dalvik wipe. Everything was going alright except it seemed a tad bit laggier than KFv35-1 so what did I do?... I decided to flash the CFSv9 kernel after hearing a couple of success stories with no complaints. Now all of the apps I moved to the SD card are not showing up in the app drawer and says app does not exist when I press Move in application manager. I love this kernel otherwise... My phone is snappier than ever and the battery life is amazing. Everything works except being able to access the apps on my SD. Many thanks to any and all who have any ideas or fixes :) and much thanks to all the devs... You have breathed new life into these devices... Great work!!!

Check the first post starting at v7 i believe it was you have to initialize the modules to make froyo apps2sd work...most roms already have it done automatically.

On a side note I did read the insmod system etc. fix on the OP... So I should clarify... Is there a permanent fix or is this one that will need to be done after every reboot? I dont usually reboot my phone (after Ive got it functioning exactly how I want it) but times like this when I get all flashin-stuff-hungry... well... then it gets mildly annoying. If not I may just flash back to CFSv6, deal with the lag, and cross my fingers KFv39 includes this kernel and the boot script.

Thanks... I wasnt sure if any of the prior kernel fixes would work for this one... Im just really bad at jumping in feet first... Well except this one time after I got this false since of security from never having any of the issues anyone else ever had... Ah well... spilt milk and all ;)

you could make a script in gscripst and then just click it when you reboot which is easier then typing the commands each time.....other then that unless you can edit the boot.img to run scripts at startup and then add a script that's probably the best you can do....there was an app a while a go called autostart or something that would run scripts at boot but i'm not sure the app is still working with the current versions of android.

Sounds like an idea worthy of trying... I really enjoy learning new stuff and tweaking this phone... but sometimes I get caught in the battle of play with it some more and risk bricking it or just nandrestore and wait for the next (hopefully) more stable ROM/kernel... If only I had two of them... a testing unit and the one only used when I knew something worked for sure ;)

So Cal
For anyone that cares, I talked to Kaos, and he's mentioned he would work on getting the import call on boot tweaked so anyone need run the commands for CFS v9 app2sd or ph_collins tweaks should be good.

Hey conap, will this work for kgn?

From my Eris on KaosGingerbread
i've successfully flashed this kernel on kgb but unfortunately any app i tried downloading from the market force closes. not necessarily a force close all the way out but more of a download loop. unless anyone knows of a specific order to mix these two i'm all ears

Is there a alternative download for V.9.. The link in the main post appears to be down on chrome and ie... Also I appear to be one of the ones having boot issues with v5-8 or whatever it was..

Sent from my ERIS using XDA App
