Update: Best Rom is Xolo Q1000s ROM : Go to last post
I've scored out most of this thread as I feel the best information is directly at the end of this post.
I have scored it out instead of deleting just in case you find it useful.
Green Orange N1-Y
I thought i'd make this thread to help other users who may search similar to me.
None of this content is my own - i've just spend weeks finding it and thought I might save other people's time.
Many tools and guides linked here may brick your phone.
I recently purchased a "Green Orange N1-y"
A Chinese phone with decent specs, decent build but pretty basic OS.
The phone appears to be the Green Orange company's phone for YunOS but comes with a mish mash of GO's MyUI and YunOs combined- it's bog standard 4.2.1 with useful stuff missing.
The first thing I did was search on this forum about the phone.

Sp Flash Tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2650125 (although I used an older version from another website I cannot quite find)
MTK Mobile Uncle: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobileuncle.toolbox&hl=en_GB
My phone was already rooted so I didn't have to root it.
I've read that iroot http://www.mgyun.com/m/en roots the NY-1.
A guide here may also work but that is for the N1 (different phone!)
I installed CWM using the following guide
http://vondroid.com/threads/how-to-...y-mediatek-mtk6589-device.12003/#.VOo6m_msVSF
I used the boot.img from this rom to help make the CWM.
This meant I could make nandroid backups incase anything messed up (and it did!)
To get into recovery
- turn the phone off
- Hold the power button and Vol+
- Vol+- to move, power to select
My phone came with an Android 4.2.1 version or "MyUI".
I used CWM to install This 4.2.2 Version of MyUI
It wasn't great- but it was better than what I started with!
I also installed a developer version of YunOS that I got from here
It ran fine but didn't seem to like any alternative launchers so I went back to the above rom.

Installing Flashing Rom Using Flash Tool.
Many of the roms availalable for the GO NY-1 can be installed via Flash Tool
This video shows method (but for different phone)
Personally I never did it this way as I was scared of losing CWM and/or bricking my phone.
On the forums above there are many roms that flash using the flash tool but I never tried them!
Hope this might help someone
