GSI for the Galaxy A20 (Android 10)

Could anyone tell me what I am doing wrong ? I am trying to flash one of the GSI rom's to my A20 but I can not get it to work at all. Here is what I do...


I am trying
MSM Xtended XQ Release v3.0 [QAndroid 10.0]
...and I also tried...
MSM Xtended XP8 Release v16 [UNOFFICIAL] [ARM64-AAB]

1) Reboot to Recovery (TWRP)
2) Wipe System, Data, Cache, Dalvik Cache.
3) Flash the GSI w/Gapps to system partition
4) Flash Magisk v20.0
5) Tried w/ and w/out GSI_Fix_Boot.zip
6) Wipe Cache
7) Reboot to System.

What it does now is just bootloops from the first "warning" screen 3 times, then goes back to TWRP.


Luckily I have my backup so I can get back to stock w/Root.

Please help me ?

I have now tried both versions of MSM Xtended GSI and they are both Excellent ROMS !!

• [GSI] MSM Xtended XP9 Release v19. [ARM64 A-A/B/ARM32A]
• [GSI] MSM Xtended XQ. Release v3.0 [QAndroid 10.0]

I got the Android v10 flashed and running fine, but I could NOT get the Android v9.0
to flash / install. I just kept getting a boot-loop from the warning screens. I was able to finally
get it to install so I just wanted to give you all a "Heads Up" if you are having trouble also.
This is what I was doing as per instructions for the Android v9.0 -

1. Boot to TWRP
2. Install the GSI Image
3. Wipe Both Caches and System
4. Flash GSI_FIX_BOOT.zip
5. Reboot System

It just goes right into a Boot-Loop now, so As per instructions, I go back to TWRP

1. Wipe Data ???
2. Flash Magisk-v19
3. Reboot

It again goes back into a Boot Loop !!

Ok so that does NOT work for me. What I did to get it to work was, do NOT not wipe system

Only Wipe the two caches, then flash GSI_FIX_BOOT.zip, Reboot, wait about 5 minutes
and the OS started up and ran just fine.

If you are having issues also, just do what I did and you should have no problem.

1. Boot to TWRP.
2. Install the GSI Image.
3. Wipe Both Caches.
4. Flash GSI_FIX_BOOT.zip
5. Flash Magisk v.19 if Needed
6. Reboot System.
7. Wait 3-5 minutes
8. Enjoy

yup im having the same bootloop problem. im going to try this method now, with havoc os android 9, its the same a205g so it should work...

ok so i did this, reboot it went up to samsung a20 screen then shut off after that, im waiting to see if anything happens now.

Ok well nothing happend, it wasnt booting into the os or twrp or download mode, i connected the cable,tried a few times and got it into download mode, then reflashed the original firmware

so i tried flashing resurrection remix android 9gsi and it flashed but the device is not booting into the gsi or showing the boot animation. it goes upto samsung a20 logo screen then shuts off and restarts. any idea how i can fix this? its the second android 9 gsi that the same thing is happening to. havoc gsi and now resurection gsi. i tried evo x android 10 gsi but that one gets stuck on boot animation. i had android 10 before i tried installing these gsis btw. does anyone know whats happening? or can give a step by step guide? thanks

> After flash, TWRP is not able to mount system anymore "failed to mount /system_root (invalid argument"
> Note that partition size is shorted to the half size
> Unable to repair, verify e resize
> If try reboot system, black screen (only fixed after total battery discharge)

> Afte rebbot system. Stuck in first screen (the one with "powered by android" msg)

Tried diferent order to flash the system, DM, Magisk

Unfortunately still sutck in the first boot logo. I will try download e restore the stock room, and start form begin again.

Any possibility this be a TWRP version? (use 3.5.2_9) ?

You could change TWRP
or try QuizzROM-a20
