Hmm, I'm not entirely sure what the "CSCMgr" is here, apparently I need to do more research into the background of how the unlock works. I knew they had updated the Diagnosis app though, which (if they removed the registry editor interface) would obviously prevent interop-unlock.

I think I've figured out at least part of the reason for the missing app folders. The way I was turning on Full FS Access (which didn't involve rebooting the phone) appears to have changed the root folder for MTPSVC, so I could see most of the file system, but not to have changed the user it ran under (still PROTOCOLS instead of SYSTEM), which I base on the fact that I could see the \Users\PROTOCOLS folder but not \Users\DefApps, and could read but not write the HOSTS file (which is only writable by SYSTEM). I should find a way to make the MTPSVC stably start up under the SYSTEM account every time...
MTP changes user after reboot.

@spavlin: Yeah, I meant \data\users, not just \users, but the way I'm seeing it I only get Public, Default, and PROTOCOLS, no DefApps or System or anything else. I also don't have as much permissions as I'm supposed to (can't write to the HOSTS file directly, which the SYSTEM user can do).
@-W_O_L_F-: Yeah, I figured that out. Unfortunately, it's a right pain convincing the service to launch (or maybe convincing the PC to connect? Not sure) if I boot the phone with it in Full FS mode. If I remove the drivers and reboot the PC as well, plus sacrifice three goats and a chicken while I intone an arcane ritual precisely at 2:11 AM, I can get it to work... until I disconnect the phone, at which point it will stop working again. Hence my search for a more convenient way of convincing it to work...

@GoodDayToDie Yes, it works with magic. Somehow, on my phone it's stable.
I wrote warning about this feature, cause it's very unstable and users get problems with activating/using/deactivating it. It also breaks access rights for media files sometimes.

Hi guys...

Sorry asking you this, but I've already read this thread over and over again, and somehow I still didn't get it.

My Ativ S was fully Interop unlocked once, but then I updated it and I lost the Interop. My question is: does this procedure "re-interop unlock" the device?! Just create that file, or do I have to do something else?

Once again sorry for asking, and keep up the awsome work.

Cheers!

Creating the file unlocks Diagnosis for GDR3.

You still have the InteropUnlock, but to use it you need to make the dummy file that Diagnosis checks for some unknown reason.

It also doesn't hurt to go over the whole unlocking process again, though.

Thanks thals1992 for your reply...

So, I created that dummy file. Then I tried to deploy some xap's with WP Deplyment App and even with the Windows Phone Power Tools, and it always give me an error and/or deployment optimization failure. I followed you advice to go over the whole unlocking process but I can´t sideload any App/Xap. I do have my phone Dev Unlocked, and I had it fully Interop Unlocked before...

I really appreciate some help.

Thanks in advance.

I'd recommend you backup all of your apps/ anything you want or need off your phone and do a hard reset. I'm not really sure why this happens on some devices.

Yeah, I really am thinking doing that and/or reverse to gdr2 and start all over again. But since I already done it all, just trying not to repeat the hole process again...
By the way, tried to replace the 3 xml files without success, have no permission (?).

Thaks for the help.

You shouldn't need to downgrade. On the Odyssey, nothing is lost feature wise, so.....Im not too sure about the Ativ s though.

Unblock RPC Functions proved easy. You just need to create an empty file:
Phone \ Data \ Users \ Public \ Documents \ Non-Production Errors.txt

what did/would you guys use to create the file on 10521, skipped official GDR3 (10517?), updated ATIV S please?
it was interop unlocked and unlock revert disabled on GDR2. Now its got samwp8 and some other higher interop unlock CAP needing apps still working on it (I did see one fix manifest cap error when deploying a new version of tweakui), but when I turn on FS access in samwp8 and reboot/unlock still nothing happens (except the phone is recognized as an MTP device)...i treid accessing the folder in question via the native access web server but I get an error 5 (not allowed).

"\ Data \ Users \ Public" is what you see without FullFS Access. Copy this file to Documents folder on the phone.

Thanks for your reply -W_O_L_F-
Unfortunately, it didn't work, and I've copied to Documents, and I also tried creating those folders, but it's not a C:\data\users\public it's just under Phone, when Full FS access if off I can only see that (and SD Card)...FS access still isn't available even after multiple reboots...it gets recognized as MTP USB Device, but with yellow exclamation mark, with the message "This device cannot start. (Code 10) The process hosting the driver for this device has terminated." on Windows 8.1

Guess I'll have to reset, system files are at >8GB, I wanted to delete them...but without without FS access...I'll just backup games/app first...didn't yet try your app...need any help/testing/developing with alpha?

Sigh... the "Documents" folder you see *IS* the \Data\Users\Public\Documents folder. That was said just above you...

If you are even able to toggle Full FS Access on and off, it worked! You can't do that on the latest Samsung firmware ("official GDR3" as some people are calling it, even though it has nothing to do with GDR3 and just happens to be installed at the same time) unless you already unblocked RPC!

Sigh...I was able to add the empty notepad created txt file at the "Documents" folder indicated, but the Full FS Access is still disabled as I'm getting an error "5" (access not allowed) when using the Native Web Server and trying to delete those pesky system files that have reached over 9.5GB on my ATIV S updated to Developer's 10521 GDR3...I've probably should've copied those three files xml files before I upgraded it to GDR3 via Developer Preview not to loose Full FS (which I had before the update and back when I installed the SamWP8Tools which runs but Full FS toggles do nothing):

Thanks the same...

Full FS Access does not affect the web server in any way, just the USB MTP FS access... Try using that instead :p

USB's the very first thing tried, and as it's noted before, it doesn't do anything. The MTP process won't start. Any more suggestions? :silly:

Password lock your phone, connect USB and when it shows up in Explorer, unlock it.
Password locked it, tried restarting, numerously (it's PIN locked, thus locks, automatically)...it doesn't show up at all...removed the drivers from device manager, on machines with previous device center installed, tried it on Windows Server 2012, 8, 7, XP. MTP doesn't start (it will show up in explorer when Full FS is off, even shows some of its root partition when the registry key gets changed to "C:", but I still wouldn't let me see those folders with excessive "system" files so I could delete them). I'm not 100% sure, but I do think Full FS should allow the Web Server to see those folders, I'll be corrected by GDTD...it might be that since the phone has very little free space left now, that it's not somehow allowing the MTP process to start up and show the device in explorer (it does however get recognized by any Windows x64 OS as a MTP USB Device which has the following status "This device cannot start. (Code 10) The process hosting the driver for this device has terminated." or it might be something to do with desktop x64 operating systems maybe using any non-signed drivers that won't start without disabling that under Windows startup menu....sry I'm wildly speculating now):

Yeah, GDR3 and full FS access is a really difficult combo. I've gotten it working, like, four times ever. It is possible. Just difficult...

I've got some theories as to why. I should really try fixing it.
