Re: [GT-N7000] [AOSPA] 4.2.1 PARANOIDANDROID 2.99 BeerBong Discussion thread

Let's shoot.

I am totally unable to make PIE display from the sides or the top, only from bottom. It's there any special gesture to have it displayed from the sides?

Second. I know that this is a feature request and that it comes second to bug fixing, but I miss many CM features. The advanced settings for example, but also the ability to set hardware button behaviour.

This is not a rant, just a little regret.

Setup PIE - Pie controls must be ticked, obviously
Pie location: I checked all 4 locations. Default is bottom.
Pie size: personal preference
Pie style: I chose quick

Example for left side: shortcut to
> quick tiles swipe: let the finger glide from the top left corner onto the screen
> notifications: let the finger glide from the bottom left corner onto the screen

If you slide from the right side, the behaviour is just vice versa.

Generally speaking, if you slide over the left half of the pie, you'll get to quick tiles. Over the right -> notifications

Advanced settings is available as an app (Galaxy Note Settings) within app drawer, not within system settings.

g-maps

since navigation is not provided in my country I've been using the brute version of google maps.

installation of 6.14.1 g-maps ends with "application not installed". I assume this happens because it's not a version prepared for PA. Is it possible to make it work in PA?

on a lesser note: (mistakenly asked this before in dev topic) backup of PA preferences initiates a "successful" message but restoring produces "no backups found". anyone who can backup and restore?

thanks.

Try going to Settings>Security and ticking "Unknown sources".

You are unable to install modded maps because it is there as a system app. You have to uninstall previous version by deleting it from system/app folder by root browers (es file manager or root explorer). Then install modded version after reboot.

PA backup and restore prefs works here.

Are you talking about full wipe....? Please be specific next time :D :)

just to be clear: you too uninstalled maps that come with g-apps and installed a brute-mod version like I did?

Try going to Settings>Security and ticking "Unknown sources".

"Unknown sources" was already ticked but changing the folder permission did the trick. Thank you. Since only one more person complained about it I guess it happened due to installation procedures (though I flashed with all wipes).

So many helpful souls

Since I use this version of the maps I always clear data and cache of maps, street view and then uninstall them with rom toolbox. After that brute gmaps gets installed. But in my current case it starts installing and quits with "application not installed". I suspect some files remain after uninstalling gmaps from the gapps package but since that never happened before... who knows...

If you like the helpful souls hit Thanks button :D :D, that will be there rewards. I will give you an idea.
Go to settings>apps>all>maps...force stop, clear cache. click disable.
Go to root explorer navigate to system>apps delete maps.apk copy your modded map.apk and paste in system>app folder, give proper permission. rw r r. Reboot.
Then go to settings>app>all...scroll until bottom because disabled apps will be at bottom. Select maps>enable. Once enable, open maps and check. If not Reboot once again...then it will work. ENJOY

Even if it didn't help you or you didn't like the answer...Hit the thanks button. Ungrateful, can't believe it!
Ungrateful? No.
I didn't say I didn't like the answer. That wink is supposed to imply that it was a reply in good faith.
Prior to that someone pointed me towards a solution to a different issue that worked, and "thanks" was hit instantly.

No hard feelings I hope.

No hard feelings, just disliking the attitude.

I did state I know how to remove a system app and install a new one so a repetition of what I already know and written here did not help me: and probably won't help anyone who has the same issue. Still, I intended my reply to be friendly. On another note I dislike when anyone asks for "Thanks": if I feel "it helped" I do hit that button. Simple.

Complexities of written communication, different cultures, language barriers...
Let us not derail off OP anymore.

You installed a modded/hacked app which is available in a thread here on xda. Did you at least already ask your question in this thread?
I guess you didn't, regarding your posts. Maybe you should try it there (as well).
