so quick question that applies to all ROMs and such.

do we need an SD card to root and then unlock bootloader?

and separate question: do we need an SD card to install ROMs?

yeah. totally "n00b"-ish question. but i'd rather ask and make sure than not ask and screw things up.

Well atrix noob to noob
I didn't use an SD card when I installed cm on my wife's just the internal one.

Clockwork mod recovery has two options one for internal SD and one for normal SD.

Hope this helps.

6. Installing Cyanogen Mod 7!

g. Using the volume keys for movement (Up & Down) and the power button for selection, choose "install zip from sdcard"

I can't see that option... Only "apply update from SDCARD"

What should I do?

Thanks

P.S.: I needed to press vol up AND down at the same time to get there. Is this the correct procedure?

Figured out how to fix it... Don't let your phone fully boot after installing recovery. Make sur you're holding power and vol down after inputting moto-fastboot reboot in prompt.

AT&T With OTA Gingerbread Update

Thanks for the guide. It is helpful to see all of the steps in one place and I would like to use it if it applies to my situation. I have a rooted (otherwise stock) AT&T Atrix that received the OTA 2.3.4 update. Will this procedure work for my phone? I have read many posts on bootloader unlocking and I am still unclear on how to proceed since I received the OTA Gingerbread update. Thanks!

Based from the guides I based this from, it should work. The only thing that you will need to do most probably is to make sure you use the right files in the procedure, double check it with the other threads for the US Gingerbread version.

I hope that was helpful!

Thank you for a smashing guide! I'll be attempting this soon; I've spent ages trawling through lots of threads and just ended up confusing myself - I would probably have ended up with a brick had I tried it without this guide.

One thing, as it's a "dummies guide", the "cd C:\MotorolaMB860toCM7\fastboot\" will only work if your cmd prompt is already in the C: drive. If not, it will appear to do nothing. Either run a "c:" before the cd, or use "cd /d C:\MotorolaMB860toCM7\fastboot\".

I cant continue because theres no file for the USA at&t

g. Locate the "intl-fix-try1.sbf" file. This should be located in "C:\MotorolaMB860toCM7\". Select that. For USA AT&T users please refer to this link to download the correct SBF file.

please help

Okay Guys, I'm sorry if I come accross as a total idiot but does this have to be done on a x64 computer. I am at the very beginning step of installing MotorolaEndUserDrivers_5.1.0x64.msi and says installation package is not supported by processor type.

I installed the latest stable CM7.2 (cm-7.2.0-olympus.zip) to my relative's Atrix yesterday. I used both this guide and the link below in flashing CM, and had no trouble :
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_olympus

Thanks a lot :good:

Just a little note;
In the fastboot folder there's "moto-fastboot.exe" so you have to either:
1) use the command "moto-fastboot" instead of "fastboot" in the command prompt, or
2) change the filename "moto-fastboot.exe" to "fastboot.exe"
