Not sure what you mean when you say the laptop is not reading the tablet in fastboot mode. When in fastboot it should NOT show up as attached storage. The best way to tell if it is "really" seeing the Streak 7 is in step 13 - which uses an id rather than a device name so that it should work even if the tablet isn't fully identified. If you try to perform step 13 while in fastboot, what message are you getting?
Once I put it into fastboot and it starts to install the fastboot drivers. It won't! I keep getting a notice that unsuccessfully did so.

When doing step 13. when I put in the code. it just says <waiting for device> like it's doesn't see it! see below!

Not sure why it's not working! Unless it's user error on my part. But as I said I followed the directions.

EDIT!: After sitting and reading a while. I figured out what I believe the problem was. The USB port I was using. Cause when I switched ports. All started to work. Don't know why, but it did! I got it up and running! So I am happy!

Hi, my first post ;]

Have been using HTC Wildfire for 1 and a half year now and just bought Dell Streak 7.
Lovely device but I have a problem with entering fastboot on it. I rooted Wildfire and entered fastboot mode many times so I don't think this is my mistake... hopefuly. I press and hold vol down (-) and then press and hold power button. back button etc. lights up and after few seconds power led blinks several times red and streak turns off. I have also tried holding vol down and just pushing power but till lights go on and then release it but after that Dell starts up normaly despite the fact I kept vol down pressed for all time.

Some ideas whats wrong? I updated from stock froyo to honeycomb.

PS
Recovery mode also doesn't work. vol up + power yep? (maybe here I've done something wrong ;] )

You do not appear to be entering the command correctly for step 13, specifically you don't seem to be adding the device code. Format is:
fastboot -i 0x413C flash recovery recovery.img (where recovery.img is the ClockworkMod or other recovery file)

Note that the spaces are also important (on one line you appear to have tried flashrecovery).

Hope this helps!

Another vote for a SD root solution!

Add my name to the list for a SD root solution, as I have followed all the help files to the "T" and to the "LETTER" and have not succeeded in rooting my device?!?

All I really want to do is:
: edit my 'HOST' file so that I don't get so many pop-up adds.
: add the app "RUN FROM SD" so that I can load and run apps fro the "SD"
: And maybe use the utility "CHANGE ID" so that I can try a few APP's that currently the 'STREAK-7' does not have access to such as the Feb/2012 release of the 'Crackle.com' video app.

Rooting non-stock honeycomb

Hi All,
I have a DS7 US4G version which I have updated from Froyo to HC. These are the specs

Android Version 3.2
Kernel 2.6.36.3
baseband 11.810.09.06.00
Build Number 19534

I am complete newbie. I did the previous update with a help of a friend of mine. I "think" this a stock rom, but as my DS7 was a tmobile, I had to get this from XDA. So I am not sure whether it is stock rom.

My tablet hangs and get stuck once in few weeks or in a month. I do the factory reset and re-install all apps through Astro app backup. But it is very time consuming process.

I tried to install the package given in this but it says update not compatible. I think I have to root as previously.

But I have see many advises from experts in the group saying rooting with custom roms is not recommended.

What shall I do?

Thanks in advance.

Search "T-mobile" and you will find some help there in previous posts.

Root DS7 updated to HC 3.2 from Froyo 2.2

Hello to everyone,

I'm new in rooting devices, but I need it in order to be able to use ad hoc with my phone. My DS7 originally came with Froyo but recently I updated it with the Dell update. Does anyone knows if the instructions works for my DS7? Thanks in advance.

Regards,
