I have an Xfinity mobile note 8 that has been carrier unlocked that I'm using with cricket. I flashed the unlocked bra5 with no problem. My question is, since cricket is an at&t complany. Can I flash the unlocked carrier specific at&t firmware to possibly get some of the features like hd voice or volte? Or would it be better to flash the at&t csc with my current unlocked firmware. I understand some stuff just doesn't work sometimes because of how at&t does things. Just curious which would be the best way to try. Hd voice and volte would be nice but if I can get any of it I'd be happy. Any advice/help is greatly appreciated.
There's really not "unlocked carrier specific" firmware. Let me explain:

Each phone has three CSC codes:
Sales Code: this is carrier bloat, apps, features, and boot animation.

Network CSC: This is radio bands specific to your carrier, and some features, such as WiFi calling on T-Mo (but not on ATT).

Product CSC: This indicates where the phone came from and cannot be changed.

For example, my CSC is TMB/TMB/VZW. It's running the full T-Mobile firmware, on the T-Mobile network, but was a Verizon device originally.

When you are running U1 firmware on a factory unlocked U1 (XAA/XAA/XAA), and you install a carrier SIM card, for example ATT, it detects the SIM carrier, asks you to reboot, and provisions SIM card and installs the correct network CSC for that carrier (but not the sales Code CSC). So your CSC then becomes XAA/ATT/XAA. Basically ATT radio bands, but no carrier bloat.

The "Unlocked ATT" firmware you see on Sammobile or other sites is IDENTICAL to the XAA/XAA U1 firmware, but the ATT CSC is already provisioned. It won't unlock any more features than of you stuck an ATT SIM into a brand new U1.

But if you were to flash it anyway, because you don't believe me, then as soon as you stick your current carrier SIM in it, it will detect it, install that carrier network CSC, and force a reboot. So if I have a U1 on ATT, my CSC is XAA/ATT/XAA. If I put in my T-Mobile SIM, it will reboot and change to XAA/TMB/XAA, activating T-Mobile bands and certain T-Mo features such as WiFi calling and VoLTE, but will deactivate any ATT featurws specific to the ATT CSC.

Once we move up to OREO, then ALL the carrier firmwares will do this as well. So if your running ATT firmware on the ATT network, and you put in a T-Mobile SIM card, then it will change both CSCs to TMB, and replace all the ATT bloat, apps, boot animations, etc with T-Mobile. I've tested this on both my S8+ and N8 both running Oreo.

Essentially, Oreo will make the carrier switching guide null and void, at least for the N950U, G955U, and G950U devices. It will still be needed to switch back and forth to U1 or W firmware.

Hope that answers your question.

If you flash CSC file from full carrier firmware, you may get more features but will lose download booster...for more functionality you can flash the USERDATA and CSC files...to keep the unlocked firmware's setting menu and get more features you can also try just using switching carrier section to change csc code to cricket, this way sets the code as full carrier instead of limited as long as you select install complete, whereas just inserting the SIM sets the limited code built in the xaa firmware...

For example, I insert Sprint SIM and get limited functionality on XAA firmware, when I change csc code using the guide to SPR, the code changed settings to enable some full carrier settings...while still having access to XAA settings menu for download booster...I did still have to edit some settings manually though...even some of the icons were different...

And yes the unlocked firmware is still unlocked even with SIM in as the SIM only activates a limited amount of settings, else it would look just like the Carrier firmware...

But...for best functionality on any ATT service, it is best to change csc code to intended carrier and then flash complete ATT Firmware, USERDATA and all....

Some of the Carrier branded U1 firmwares did contain updates from the Carrier that were not in the XAA firmware...mind you not all...mostly for connectivity...I do not host them though because, for the most part...they are the same...it is more of a naming comfort to aid those who do not know what to flash, plus an occasional USERDATA file if the Carrier needs to...

Factory Binary batteries included?

Does the BRA5 factory binary come with most Samsung services? Maybe if I hold two fingers on the screen to start voice assistant it will work.

Which HOME_CSC file did you use with binary? Canadian, N950U, or N950U1?

use ..n950u1
If you flash the Canadian HOME_CSC in Prince Comsy's Odin while on the factory binary, the csc codes should be selectable...I only put the other HOME_CSC files just in case one did not trust Pc's Odin...I did not know if all CSC codes would show though...Prince Comsy's Odin is safe...

You have to follow the switching carrier section to change the code to tmo in step 26 (I think)...
So flash the factory binary BRA? In the OP with Original Odin
Follow steps...
Then Flash Canadian XAC HOME_CSC with Prince Comsy's Odin
Follow Steps....
Enter in TMO when you get to adb section of steps
Then Flash T-Mobile firmware with Original Odin....
