That is because you're triggering a built-in write protection on Android 8. You need to use ADB 'remount' procedure before replacing the bootanimation file. You can find instructions in several of the PDF's included in the package. Start with the one for Viper4Android

After you reflash and run full factory reset, the KGapps should be gone.

If I want my google apps back,
do I have to start the procedure again?

1.Firmware
2.TWRP
3. FM Radio patch - only YT9216BJ or YT9216CJ
4. Root
5.Viper4Android
6. Car Launcher
8. [OPTIONAL] 1GB RAM speed hacks <<<< install L_Speed.apk only

Is that correct?

No it's not.

No you can't. Use our Android 6 MOD instead for your specific model. Link is in our signature.

You currently have Android 6. Your head unit isn't compatible with any of our mods.

Not compatible. If you bought this unit recently - return it. It's really worst of the worst.

Can't say unless you also share your Kernel version.

You can't with any of our mods. Your head unit needs to be upgraded to Android 8 API 27 first, and then you can install the appropriate package.

We have a library of preloaders for many of these models. PM us.

You can but full reinstall is recommended.

It is but if you're unable to make successful backup, it's a good indicator for not try to mess with your unit.

Sometimes you need to connect your head unit to power, 3 seconds after connecting the USB cable for the communication to start. Make sure to follow our instructional video.

You can't use this package as you are on Android 6, not 8. With expert skills it is possible to upgrade to Android 8 API 27 and only after that you can install this mod.
Is there any mod that can fix the bad audio quality for this system, or any way to make this compatible?

Absolutely, this is one of the main reasons we started the ExtremeMOD Project.

The best way is to calibrate the sound using Viper4Android included in all our packages.

If that doesn't satisfy your needs, then hardware modifications is the next step.

Is there any way to make this specific unit compatible or anything? This thing is as good as junk if I can't make the bass any louder

You can manually root it and then install Viper4Android. That might solve the issue to your liking. But the reality is that no Android Head Unit today delivers great sound unless custom-built or modified on the hardware level. The only exception is Android Head Units with digital audio outputs. These deliver the best sound you can get, provided your aftermarket car amplifier has digital audio inputs.

Our software isn't compatible with your head unit. Your head unit is powered by TDA7388 chip or a cheaper equivalent like YD7388.

If you wish to proceed with root + Viper4Android, here's what you need to do:
  1. Fully backup your head unit
  2. Restore your backup to ensure it fully works
  3. Install TWRP Recovery Console
  4. Install root
  5. Install Viper4Android and tweak it to your liking.
You'll need to find the downloads on XDA and the instructions as well. Search for FF-5000.

What app are you guys using for playing locally stored music?
Most apps I have tested doesn't save the last played track position. The Local music app that I have built in isn't bad, but it has a strange issue for me as it starts playing when there is a notification on my phone!

Hi all,

If you want to greatly improve the way your head unit works, sounds and looks like - you've come to the right place!

Why install this?
With this package you will greatly improve:
  • Stability
  • Speed
  • User Interface
  • Sound tweaking options
  • Customisation options
View attachment 5383193 View attachment 5383199 View attachment 5383195 View attachment 5383197

  • ON PHYSICAL BUTTONS: this software has only been tested on head units with no physical buttons (like volume) | Before making any changes, access the CAR SETTINGS -> FACTORY SETTINGS -> ENCODER SETTINGS on your head unit and take a screenshot of the current settings (see example below). After installing the package, go back to these settings and adjust them if needed. If that doesn't help and if you can't successfully re-calibrate the buttons after installing the firmware, restore your backup

Disclaimer
I do not create the software itself but rather use research and put together different mods and hacks into one package that includes very user-friendly step-by-step instructions on how to install it all. You will find the links to original posts in the instructions pdf's if credit is due. The software might include smaller changes made by me and has been fully tested in real units.

This guide works on the following 1Gb RAM and 2 Gb RAM units with fake Android 10 and Android 11 installed:

- YT9216BF | YT9216CFJ | YT9216BJ | YT9216BFJ | YT9216CJ

!! TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR SYSTEM INFO AND KERNEL VERSION BEFORE DOING ANYTHING TO YOUR HEAD UNIT !!

The zip file package contains:
  • Modified firmware - courtesy of Stranger21UFA @ 4PDA (link to the original post)
  • TWRP (separate folders for 1GB and 2GB RAM units)
  • Root via Magisk
  • Viper4Android
  • Car Launcher
  • Boot Animation
  • SEPARATE INSTRUCTIONS ARE INCLUDED IN EVERY FOLDER

>>>> ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR UNIT BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES TO IT <<<<

!! IMPORTANT !!

This is a fairly advanced installation process and will require you to follow the individual guides included in the software package - to the letter. Failing to do so, will (in "best" case) result in a slow and buggy head unit and in the worse case - brick it altogether.

Hiya guys,

I bought a head unit last year from amazon.

Details
Xtrons PSP90CLT Link
HMI: TSKJ.D.Q.F.3.03.2021.03.03.09.03
MCU: TS907.190518(H)
MEDIA: HC_v2.0.0_200416_0930(v1.66)
BTV: BT.20.12.07.1030

ALPS FF-5000
ac8227l
2GB ram
16gb Rom

Recently google maps started crashing, after clearing data, uninstalling updates, reinstalling updates the apps works, but when i try to download offline maps it crashes again.

I had to do a full reset of the head unit to get it to work again. its working as it was before now, but I don't want to go through that hassle again, espeically if i'm away on a trip or very far from a data connection.

I would like to install this custom rom have working root if possible.

is this unit compatible with your directions here?

if you need me to post more screens of any data or relay any more info just ask.

(edit) I now realized too that reset had caused some issue with the reversing camera, before it worked flawlessly, but now it randomly works randomly shows a black screen.

Below post is to show my respect & appreciation to iceblue1980 and in addition to share my experience that had for a few days while trying to make my unit better with above firmware.

As I downloaded firmware package, I chose not to follow his guide by letter & skip a few steps, for example & most important, not to take full back up of memory.
Then disaster followed, as I almost bricked the unit.
So I turned back to post/s to find solutions. Iceblue1980 was there, day & night responding to me & sending me several alternatives to try.
He even volunteered to fix my unit by sending it to him without any money even if he had to spend valuable time for it.
Finally, after several attempts & lots of files / firmwares / guides he sent me the gold package & we made it work !!!

I carefully followed his last guide by letter & that was it.

Now my unit is back to life & even better than ever.

This guy is awesome & I personally thank him so much.

To all members, PLS FOLLOW author's
guides BY LETTER EVERYTIME to avoid surprises !!!!
    AND
Don't forget to thank the people who are there for you day or night.
They use lot of their personal time to be there for you & that is priceless !!

    :) :) :) :)

The links go to a '404' page.
I did the first step as per the guide then did a factory reset. I then installed TWRP and rebooted then unit. Then I ran the 'reboot recovery' command in the terminal emulator and the unit rebooted, but it only shows the logo, some vertical lines on the bottom half of the screen, then a black screen and hangs there.

I can still reboot normally and the unit will run.

Separately, when resuming audio tracks after key-off, the audio is very choppy and unusable. Both bluetooth audio and the music app behave the same.

To recover, I have to reset the unit and then the audio is ok.

Also there's a very loud audio boom on start up and shutdown of the unit. This is not there in the stock firmware.View attachment 5409085

Thank you for sharing these details. I'm afraid your head unit is not compatible with any of my software packages. If you haven't done so already, please revert back to factory firmware to avoid issues.
    2
The method I had to use slightly differs from everything I have read.

1.) I wired a toggle switch to my positive lead. Left it in the off position (no power to head unit)

You could share a picture of your soldered button. Some folks here might find it helpful :)

I'm thinking of making a guide going for a permanent mod, where the soldered tactile SMD button will be accessible through a small hole in the back of the head unit (similar to how you access the RESET button). That way you can use a 'needle' to short the test points, rather than picking the unit apart every time.
