Hi guys, this might be some good news, but it needs more testing after the EMUI 10 update will be officially available.
So, short story is that i managed to use recovery for VOG-L29 using HiSuite chinese version 9.1.0.309 and it worked. HiSuite downloaded v193 (available on-line for my device) and recovered my phone.
This method didn't worked with EMUI 10 OTA update, because for flashing recovery firmware it needs the
PRELOAD and
CUST firmwares zips too, which are NOT available on FF to download for EMUI 10.
Steps to recovery FOR EMUI 9.1 :
1. Make sure your host file is not modified (remove any entry that points to query.hicloud.com)
2. Fresh install
HiSuite v9.0.2.304 from the package in the link (remove any previous installed version)
3. Open HiSuite and check for updates (it prompts you to update to v9.1.0.309 hit ok and update)
4. Grab the file from
here and replace the file in C:/Windows/User/yourusername/AppData/HiSuite/userdata (leave the explorer window opened, you will need to replace the file later)
5. Put the full OTA file inside the folder where HStool is located (i used drive C, just copied there) then start HStool and follow the instructions.
IGNORE when it asks to change host settings, just do the rest.
6. Before hitting finall Recovery (after HSTool decompressed files from OTA file you provided), return to step 4 and make sure that the correct xml is in place (double check).
7. Hit Recovery and then HiSuite starts downloading the firmware, unpacking and flashing it. When time comes, HSTool will replace downloaded firmware with the one you added in HSTool folder.
That's all you need to do!!! Make sure the correct xml is in place and test yourself to see if it's working.
I will update this post when EMUI 10 will be available (including CUST&PRELOAD zips) or after the FIRST OTA UPDATE from 9.1 to 10 (when we'll all have allready changed our CUST&PRELOAD to match EMUI 10)
Cheers,
SilviuO
