Hi m8,

The method from this thread is not working anymore for flashing firmwares, only for recovering softbricked devices. For more info, check my post from here.

I can help you with some info, but i need to know your CUST version. I have C431, for example.

Cheers,
SilviuO
My mistake. Did not follow the entire thread before posting as I am loosing hope to back my VOG-L29 back to stock.

Problem is we were stuck with July update until recently here in my region so I used FH to flash the global VOG-LGRP2-OVS 9.1.0.193 (was the latest when I flashed). Meantime Huawei have been updating this device here in my region and also global versions are up too. None of them make it through OTA for me, so I am confident the process just broke future OTA updates. That said, my goal is to get back to stock ROM but so far no luck. My CUST is C605 and it did not change when flashed with FH.

Things I have tried: e-Recovery = getting info package error / Hisuite whithout FH = device not elegible to recovery / checking for updates on phone or HiSuite = latest version - never updates.

Any tip?

Sorry if some words are incorrectly written. Need some sleep in here :)

Hi m8,

As a suggestion for you, i would use the dload method to flash an older firmware and then see if it's getting any OTA (it should work if the FF firmware didn't change anything on the phone partition).

1. dload method explained here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...orial-vog-l29-flash-firmware-153-usb-t3928793
2. older firmware for VOG-L29: FLASH THIS FIRST -> VOG-L29 HW LA HLRCF VOGUE-L04D 9.1.0.168(C605E4R1P5) - https://androidhost.ru/Vnf
IF IT'S NOT GETTING OTA , THEN FLASH THIS ONE - VOG-L29 HW LA VOGUE-L29D 9.1.0.185(C605E4R1P5) - https://androidhost.ru/2BE6

Also, when you are on any of this 2 firmwares from above, you can try the eRecovery method to force update latest version available for your device (also see if it gives your e-Recovery = getting info package error).

Hi m8,

For demo devices OTA is broken. The only free way is to try flash using dload method (the one mentioned by me earlier). What CUST your device is? Maybe i can help you with an newer firmware version for your device.

Great. Keep me posted with your results ;)
Turns out I had an OTG cable that came with my Pixel 4 XL.

First test with older ROM v168. Flashed ok, Safenet ok. Instantly received that small settings update that asks for restart. Checking for updates on the phone and HiSuite says i am on the latest version, sadly :( and checking the version number for changelog it sayd "no info" . As an improvement, e-Recovey now downloads ok, but it just downloads the same v168 ROM.

Now downloading the newer rom.

Ok. After installing v185, you can install using the same method the firmware for C432 (european version which can be flashed on your device too, as said here) and then check again for update through HiSuite/OTA or eRecovey.

VOG-L29 HW EU VOGUE-L29C 9.1.0.193(C432E4R2P2) - https://androidhost.ru/1LH3

Later Edit: If it's not modifying your CUST, it 's good. My guess is that FF surrely modified your phone. Maybe flashing these ones will help you at least with eRecovery or HiSuite.

Second ROM v185 same results as before, except now e-Recovery wants to download v168. Should I try the third ROM or if I download v168 from e-Recovey it is guarantee is the official one and I can start from it?

Try with v193 and then eRecovery to see if it's getting something new. If it doesn't work, then it means that :
1. your CUST was affected by flashing FF firmware
2. your device didn't received any update since 168 (which is odd, but as you said, it's downloading through eRecovery, which downloads latest firmware OFFICIAL available)
3. you can stay on v193 untill a dload firmware with EMUI 10 will be available (at least with v193 your device is OK and has HUAWEI OFFICIAL firmware)

I'm c432 and . 185 friend
Use this firmware to upgrade to v193, it's the latest available for dload method. After that, you can try with eRecovery (check info on how on my attached SS below) or with HiSuite (PC version from here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80818239&postcount=1803), maybe you will jump to v224 (latest available for retail C432). If not, you'll have to wait for a dload method for C432, which i will post it when it will be available.

1. dload method explained here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...orial-vog-l29-flash-firmware-153-usb-t3928793
2. latest C432 firmware available for dload method - VOG-L29 HW EU VOGUE-L29C 9.1.0.193(C432E4R2P2) - https://androidhost.ru/1LH3

Yeah. FunkyHuawei seems to have messed up with my CUST even though they claim they keep stock cust.
Tried all 3 firmwares and no OTA for none of them unfortunately. E-Recovery points to v168 on all roms but I am pretty sure I was on v185 before using FunkyHuawei. HiSuite says I'm on the latest version for all 3 roms and trying to restore from HiSuite gives me "device not compatible to recovery".

So, yeah, I pretty much bricked the phone.

Anyway thanks a lot for your patience and support man!

I'm sry i couldn't helped you more. Now yow know for sure that you have to do:

1. If you have credits, flash latest firmware available on their site and so on for the future updates from Huawei
2. Stay on v193 you flashed latest and wait for another dload firmware release
3. Try at Huawei Service Center, maybe they can help you and chenge your motherboard (think you'll have to pay if you explain what happened)
4. Stay on latest available for your device (wouldn't recommand that)

Do you know if there is a better firmware for my ELE-L09 (C431)? Like some Global firmware? (Or is ELE already Global?)

Just wondering if switching would free me from carrier updates and get them direct from Huawei instead?

EDIT - I see these models, are they all compatible?

Hi,

The latest european firmware to flash using dload method available for ELE-L09/L29 is ELE-L29 HW EU ELLE-L29B 9.1.0.193(C432E4R2P2) - https://androidhost.ru/2BHx. This version is the global one, without any customization from any provider. My advice for you is to remove your SIM, reset your device (before backing up your data, obviously:silly:) then flash this version. After flashing is complete and you're in the welcome screen, enter eRecovery (the one with phone OFF, connected wall charger and Volume + pressed simultaneously) to check for new firmware. Download the latest available and after restart you can set up your phone and put back your SIM. After that, you'll be prompted with an carrier update (which will give you the carrier settings and apps - apps that can be removed). The advantage of flashing this way is that you have for base firmware an global one and not a carrier one. You will still receive OTA's followed by the carrier updates.

Hope i helped you with my little explanation :D

LATER EDIT:
ELE-L09 - Single SIM ( you can't flash firmware from L09 to L29)
ELE-L29 - Dual SIM ( firmware can be flashed on single SIM, too and is the most updated firmware version)
ELE-L04 - Can be flashed on both, but has less updates

Cheers,
SilviuO

NO, it will not work. You need an OTG cable & a USB drive (USB stick) or Huawei NM card.

Instructions:

THIS METHOD WILL WIPE CLEAN YOUR DEVICE!!! DON'T FORGET TO BACKUP YOUR STUFFS BEFORE!!

1 - Upgrade with USB-OTG

- an OTG cable and an USB drive (8GB at least) formatted as ExFat (also you can use an USB drive + USB C adapter like the ones from Samsung);
Open the Zip and extract the dload folder on the pendrive
- Turn off the phone
- Connect the pendrive with the OTG cable (or the Samsung adapter with the USB drive)
- Now press the three buttons at the same time.
- Volume +
- Volume -
- Power button. Your phone will light up and vibrate, keep the buttons pressed and only when you see the blank screen and EMUI appears you will release the buttons. The flashing will start and lasts about 3-4 minutes. After flashing your phone will restart automatically.

2. Upgrade with Huawei NM Card

- extract the dload folder to the Nm card, then turn off your phone.
- press the three buttons at the same time.
- Volume +
- Volume -
- Power button.
Your phone will light up and vibrate, keep the buttons pressed and only when you see the blank screen and EMUI appears you will release the buttons. The flashing will start and lasts about 3-4 minutes. After flashing your phone will restart automatically.

Ah yes I remember you explaining a while ago these methods, thanks!

And I remember saying I needed to buy an OTG cable which I still have not bought :D

Will get one ordered, thanks again

Or you can get an Samsung USB type C to USB adapter like this, which is more usable than a cable :D.

Goodluck on flashing and don't forget to backup backup backup
