Hi guys. I’m stuck in the loop with my 43PUS6501 from 2016.

Timeline:
1. It got stuck around 1 year ago, wipedatatool helped, I turned the wifi off and it’s been working great with my Apple TV with Android 8 onboard.
2. I upgraded to the latest firmware, tried out wifi, still causing problems (tv automatically restarting), so switched it off, and everything was fine.
3. One month ago I turned the wifi on, it restarted after a few minutes, and it’s stuck in the loop ever since.

I’m pretty sure wifi is the problem and turning it off forever would solve the issue. But I can’t fix the loop this time.

Things I’ve tried:
1. Wipedatatools and alternatives from different sources. Some got aborted, others worked and were successful. Changed nothing, still in the loop.
2. Installing different versions od software from Toengel’s site via „Update with SD card”. Installations were successful, but the firmware version stayed the same.
3. Upgrade_tool for four different firmwares (two Android 7s, two 8s). All of them successful, firmware version changed, but the loop has not been fixed.
3. Wipdedatatools after changing the software, no changes,

Is there anything left for me to try? I was thinking about downgradig to Android 6 or 5, but I can’t find upgrade_tools for them and it also doesn’t seem like different versions of software change anything. Another thing was to try disconnecting the network card physically inside the tv, but I’m not sure it’s possible and if it would be of any help. Any other ideas? :(

Thanks from the mountain!

Ia have a 43pus6412, after an update. TV shutted down... No led... and it won't come on.
I checked the power board... that works ok... The mainboard processor gets warm too...
Can't find the tv on wifi or cable.
Tried the standard things discribed on the philips helppage.
A new firmware didn't help neither, and the downgradepack provided bij the philips helpdesk that you can't download normally didn't work either.
The outsourced repairdesk said they need to switch the mainboard..

Because i cant boot my tv i think it's the bootloader that's got corrupted... am i right? And is there a way to flash this by maybe the servicepins?

Hi there,
I have an old Philips 2013 22pfl4208t/12 Smart TV with a 715g5713-m0f-000-005k motherboard which I have been using for my desktop for over 4 years now and it has been fantastic.
Today I tried updating the TV's software from over ethernet after getting a notification promt on the screen which ended up going t*ts-up as soon as it started, it restarted, and turned off and there was no response for an hour!

Now, as soon as you plug in the TV to a power socket, it boots itself up, it goes onto TV mode for 5 secs before turning off and restarting all over again. I cannot access anything as it turns itself off 5secs after botting onto the tv section, I've removed my remote batteries, checked the motherboard for any damage, tried to find out what the system boot (recovery) buttons are and am still not sure, tried all the files I could find on this forum and stuck them on a usb to attempt to either update or wipe the TV but I just cannot figure out what to do as it is not responding to any of it at all.

I've spent the majority of the day trying to try solve what could be wrong with it, I've called philips customer care for support but they could not offer anything after being on the phone for about 3hrs, the only answers or solutions I can find else where on the web is to make it a paper weight and never buy a philips tv again which is obviously not what I want to hear as it's been such a helpful asset to me!

If any support or advice can be oftered, I'd be ever so grateful!
My many thanks,
Charles

I tried almost everything but the only thing that worked even stucked in bootloader mode was this:

Download the firmware for your model from: Firmware-Archive (German language). Take the full Firmware from "Upgrade_Loader" link (The others are only updates)

  • format a small USB stick (max. 8 GB) with FAT32 (MBR, not GPT)
  • unpack the downloaded ZIP archive and copy “upgrade-loader.pkg” (and possible other files) to the root of the first partition of the USB-Stick
  • unplug power cord of TV, remove all cables (also CAM / CI modules)
  • insert USB stick into a USB-2.0 port (black = USB 2.0, blue = USB 3.0)
  • replug power cord, but do not press any key – TV should start the installation procedure automatically (If it does not start automatically try to switch it on with the remote controller)
  • if done, remove USB stick
  • make factory reset if not automatically done (Settings > All settings > General Settings > Reinstall TV)
If this does'nt help you propably will need a new mainboard or at least to go to a Phlips Service point which are the only ones that have a "ComPair" tool

This guide should work for almost all models from Philips

Hello adbxda,
Thank you so much for you advice!

Unfortunately I have not made much progress on the website as it seems there is no update loader for my model, I don't know?
For my model of TV, I had to search about on the Firmware-Archive page and one link I found took me to this webpage -> "https://toengel.net/philipsblog/2013/02/22/philips-2013-alle-informationen-zur-4208er-tv-serie/" and then I searched for the TV's model number on the webpage [cmd+f/ctrl+f --> "22pfl4208t/12"] where it took me to a firmware update page "https://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin...ink_Software&mid=Link_Software&scy=DE&slg=DEU".
The file it provide me hasn't had any effect on the TV when trying to boot from the USB, the TV just continues to restart itself every 5 seconds, but then I dont think it would being that it's only a update firmware file [File ZIP attached].
If anyone could find a Upgrade_Loader for my model - "22pfl4208t/12" if there is one, I'd be super grateful.
Thank you again for your advice!
Charles

I searched a bit around, but I only found a russion website which offers an Upgrade_loader.pkg for your model.

I don't know anything about the russian guys and have never dealt with them, but the price of about 7$ is cheap.
The technical information is correct, so it should work for your model. (The 24PFL4228T has the same firmware as your 22PFL4208T)
You can use a chrome browser for translating russian to english.

Use this tool in connection to:
*Get rid of cyclic spontaneous reboots of your Philips Android TV...
*Recover your Philips Android TV in case you get continuous boot-loops, where Philips and/or Android logo does not even show up...
*Stop your Philips Android TV to wake up spontaneously from stand-by mode...
*Delete all data and refresh TV's android system

Part A - Wiping Data (All data/apps/settings will be deleted):
    1. Unplug the power cord from the power outlet.
    2. Press and hold arrow "Down" on the joypad at the back of the TV.
    3. Afterwards re-plug the TV to the power outlet, wait 10 seconds and enter "Android System Recovery" mode. Please not that on some models of Philips Android TV's joypad does not trigger "Android System Recovery" therefore use ADB command: adb reboot recovery (help)
    4. Download ZIP file containing "WipeDataTool.upg" to your PC and unzip it to the root of USB drive.
    5. It is recommended to disconnect all other USB devices from the TV.
    6. Connect USB drive with a prepared file to the TV.
    7. Select the menu item "Apply update from external storage" with up/down buttons on remote control and start the "WipeDataTool.upg".
    8. Wait until you see the recovery menu again with confirmation message "WipeData completed".
    9. Use remote control to select "Reboot system now". TV needs to boot into the operating mode.
Warning! If the TV will continue to restart, contact your local Philips technical support to further address your Philips Android TV issue

Part B - Reinstall TV (All data/apps/settings will be deleted):
    1. Reinstall the device via Setup - General Settings - Reinstall TV
    2. Select "Yes".
    3. After displaying initial settings on TV screen, remove the power cord from the outlet for 10-15 minutes.

Hi guys. I’m stuck in the loop with my 43PUS6501 from 2016.

Another thing was to try disconnecting the network card physically inside the tv, but I’m not sure it’s possible and if it would be of any help. Any other ideas? :(

    Thanks from the mountain!

Hi again, wanted to follow up on my efforts.

I found one more upgrade_loader (on top of those from @Toengel) allowing me to downgrade to Android 5.1 (QM163E_U_0.1.15.15 – Date: 2016/08/12). This one gave me some progress - TV was able to boot up and I can navigate it for about 10-15 seconds. After that, it shuts down and gets into bootloop again. It gets to launch every 5-10 times. I managed to turn off wi-fi, but it didn't help.

It's weird cause it doesn't have any problem running for long minutes during recovery updates or installing new software after. That's what makes me think it's not a problem of running for too long or something.

Do you think it might be a motherboard malfunctioning? Or maybe I could try something else? I'm running out of ideas how to fix this from the software perspective :(

PS. I'm attaching the upgrade_loader mentioned, maybe it'll help somebody.

Update: haha, waiting for the file to upload itself, the TV finally booted up and didn't shut down! I don't know if it matters, but i switched off Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Smart Screen and reseted network settings. Fingers crossed that it'll stay this way!

I feel really dumb but i can't connect to my 40PFT5500 through adb via wifi. It says (all the time):
    List of devices attached
    192.168.0.117:5555 offline
    Make sure you:
    1. Enable "developer settings" first
    2. Also enable "USB debugging" under Developer options (in terminal emulator use ADB command: am start --user 0 -n com.android.settings/.DevelopmentSettings )
    3. Use ADB Total Commander plugin to make your life easier
    4. You are good to go...
    adb%2Btc.png

On Philips 5500, connection over TCP with ADB worked with no problem, did reboot to recovery, wipedatatool was succesfull.

... but sadly it didn't work for me, after couple of minutes it did high pitched noise with full volume and restared, must be a hardware issue or something. I took to service and just hope they will repair it, because I'm hearing bad things from others.

In the boot recovery menu I had an additional option not in the image in the first post. Cash Cleanup, or something like that, I did run but it didn't solve the problem.
