Hi!
I don't know somebody read this, but I try to repair my mother tv Philips 55PFS8209/12.(i am green in android tv 😅) I did factory reset from thread with WipeDataTool, and rebooting stopped. But now I have another problem. When I clicked home button to show some apps or change source then loading circle show up and after that nothing more - TV back to normal view. So I tried downgrade software but it wasn't help. I bought Mi Box S but now I can't change source from normal antenna television to Mi Box because it's still loading something when I clicked home button. Tomorrow I tried back to latest software, but I don't know where is the problem. Maybe somebody have the same problem?

Hi again, wanted to follow up on my efforts.

I found one more upgrade_loader (on top of those from @Toengel) allowing me to downgrade to Android 5.1 (QM163E_U_0.1.15.15 – Date: 2016/08/12). This one gave me some progress - TV was able to boot up and I can navigate it for about 10-15 seconds. After that, it shuts down and gets into bootloop again. It gets to launch every 5-10 times. I managed to turn off wi-fi, but it didn't help.

It's weird cause it doesn't have any problem running for long minutes during recovery updates or installing new software after. That's what makes me think it's not a problem of running for too long or something.

Do you think it might be a motherboard malfunctioning? Or maybe I could try something else? I'm running out of ideas how to fix this from the software perspective :(

PS. I'm attaching the upgrade_loader mentioned, maybe it'll help somebody.

Update: haha, waiting for the file to upload itself, the TV finally booted up and didn't shut down! I don't know if it matters, but i switched off Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Smart Screen and reseted network settings. Fingers crossed that it'll stay this way!
Hello ,

I come back again because my PUS6561 goes in bootloops this night .... when my son try to activate the Wi-fi ( i was using ethernet only since my last bootloop year ago ) .

So i think you're right , turning on Wi-fi seems to be the problem , but you just can't turn off wi-fi ( it seems that if you do that after the first setting up of the telly , bootloop still occur ) .

What i've done to fix it again :
bootloop until recover mode appear => Flash firmware QM163E_U_0.26.70.1 ( it's the latest firmware for my telly , wich was already applied ) => when flash is done , unplug the telly for 1 hour ( i don't know why , but unplugging the telly just 10 or 15mn don't do the trick still bootloop ) => turn on telly , see ANDROID on screen ( Yay ! ) quick go to network settings and turning off ALL WI-FI associated settings . I've try reboot the telly and no bootlopp ( Yay 2 ! ) , watch netflix/youtube for at least 3 or 4 hours and no errors or black screen or telly goes bootloop ( Yay 3 ) . Turning OFF telly and turning on again => no bootloop , no error , no blackscreen , can go on netflix or hdmi sources without problems ( telly still hot ) .

I think something is causing a crash with one wi-fi settings but don't know why ...

Hello,

My Grandma got a Philips 42PFK6309/12 Smart TV, which is not an Android TV, so pardon me for going a bit of the rails here, I couldn't find a better place to ask my question. Anyways, beginning from the second or third of September, she has noticed that she's unable to turn of the TV. She thought the remote was to blame; turns out the remote is not to blame (I wish the remote was to blame, would make my life much easier).

I have taken a look at the TV in an attempt to fix it, and noticed some odd things:
  1. It won't turn off, neither using the remote nor by using the TVs Joystick button thingy.
  2. As it ain't willing to turn of on its own, there is nothing left other than doing it dirty way and unplugging it from the power outlet. Turns out, when plugging it back in, the TV starts automatically, which ain't normal either.
  3. When changing channels, there used to be a bar at the top that showed what TV show is currently running and its start / stop time. That bar ain't coming up anymore.
  4. Pressing a number on the remote to change the channel works, until I try turning off the TV. Once I try turning of the TV (which won't work) or do other random stuff that seems to overload the TV, trying to change channels using the numpad won't work. Sometimes it starts working again after some time, sometimes it won't. If the numpad won't work anymore, the channel + and - buttons still work, but also seem to temporarly say good by if I use them too frequently.
  5. Multiple buttons including the 'Smart TV', 'Menu' (Home), 'TV Guide', and 'Sources' buttons cause no response on the TV. The Remote is (presumably) not to blame, considering the instructions are reaching the TV (pressing a button on the remote always results in a red light blinking up on the front side of the TV even if nothing happens on the TV).
  6. The buttons 'Teletext', 'Options' (not to confuse with the 'Settings' button), and 'Settings' (not to confuse with the 'Options' button) cause response on the TV.
  7. The 'Settings' button, represented as a ⚙️ symbol on the remote, causes the TV to open a menu (nice). Having the menu open, I can open multiple submenus such as the Visuals Menu and Sound Menu. There is also a submenu simply labeled 'Settings', which in itself has a bunch of subsubmenus that has settings regarding System Updates, WIFI connectivity, and more. There are 10 subsubmenus in the 'Settings' submenu, out of which clicking on 2 does something (there is no response when clicking on the other 8).
The TV was first used in late November 2015 (the model was released in Mid-2014 if I am not mistaken), has never been connected to WIFI and was never updated. I am pretty sure the source of the problem is a Software bug. Perhaps a backend software token that was bound to expire at the beginning of September of this month.
I have tried updating the TV. I can initialise OAD Updates, but I can't connect to WIFI (the menu won't open) so I can't update this way. I have tried downloading the latest update for this TV Model from Philips.de, unzipped it, and placed the autorun.upg into the root Folder of the Fat32 formated USB (there is nothing else on the USB). When I plug in the USB while the TV is on, a message pops up reading a long the lines of 'USB is being read', but nothing happens after that. Unplugging the TV, then plugging in the USB (into either of the two USB ports), and then plugging the TV back in ain't doing anything either.

I don't know what else to do. Bringing the TV to a Philips repair shop is not an option.

I just wrote a lengthy reply describing how it didn't work and what exactly I did, but then realised that the upgrade-loader file that I downloaded was corrupted, because my bad internet caused the download to stop multiple times and resuming a download too many times apparently leads to the end product being corrupted.

Anyways, after redownloading the file I was able to unzip the file (previously I wasn't), put the file into the root folder of the USB, plugged in the USB into the unplugged TV, and after plugging in the TV the update started. After the update finished the TV worked just like it's supposed to.

Thanks a lot for your help and in providing the upgrade loader.

My TV recently started constantly refreshing the apps and home screen. If I restart it and leave it be, it will get to the Live TV screen and constantly have the blue circle circling.

I have performed all of the standard troubleshooting steps;

  • Unplug and plug the device back in.
  • Held the power button down while it is unplugged(which a rep told me is the manual factory reset procedure) and then when it is plugged in(to cover all bases).
  • I have tried to clear the cache.
  • I have tried to update to Android 11 but it states there isn't enough storage.
  • I have tried to uninstall all apps and app updates on the device.
  • It shows that they are uninstalled until the device resets.
  • I have tried the factory data reset in the device preferences, about, and reset.
  • None of these have worked resetting the device to the factory settings or clearing enough storage to install the update, which I doubt will actually help anyway.
  • Delete any unwanted apps. The computer recognizes the device but only as a TV, not as a storage device.
None of these have worked resetting the device to the factory settings or clearing enough storage to install the update, which I doubt will actually help anyway. I was wondering if anyone has been able to or is able to connect your computer to your TV and access the hard drive/SSD, to manually load the OS or perform a factory reset like unlocked bootloaders of the past? I'm looking through the software that is on toengel.net but none of these seem to be matching my device. Has anyone been able to save this device from this stupid software issue?
Thanks in advance.

Hello @Toengel , i have a Philips 75PFL5604/ F7 A, production 2020, and i can't find anything close to this model on your page, nor anywhere else on the web.
My tv is stuck loading on "androidtv" logo screen for hours, after a system update, the tv doesn't have the joystik in the back, and anytime i plug it in, it just starts without pressing anything and stays on the logo.
I have tried different keys and key combinations on my remote and the back of tv without succsess of entering recovery mode, i also downloaded some of the wipe data tools and extract them on usb, tv doesn't recognize anything, just starts and goes to logo... Can't find the chasis model anywhere on the tv either.
At this point i'm looking for any firmware update that would work for this tv straight from the usb stick at powerup without recoveery, or any known way of entering this model's recovery mode to try a full wipe... Not even been alble to enter Safe mode... nothing. Any sugestions please? Thank you in advance

Use this tool in connection to:
*Get rid of cyclic spontaneous reboots of your Philips Android TV...
*Recover your Philips Android TV in case you get continuous boot-loops, where Philips and/or Android logo does not even show up...
*Stop your Philips Android TV to wake up spontaneously from stand-by mode...
*Delete all data and refresh TV's android system

Part A - Wiping Data (All data/apps/settings will be deleted):
    1. Unplug the power cord from the power outlet.
    2. Press and hold arrow "Down" on the joypad at the back of the TV.
    3. Afterwards re-plug the TV to the power outlet, wait 10 seconds and enter "Android System Recovery" mode. Please not that on some models of Philips Android TV's joypad does not trigger "Android System Recovery" therefore use ADB command: adb reboot recovery (help)
    4. Download ZIP file containing "WipeDataTool.upg" to your PC and unzip it to the root of USB drive.
    5. It is recommended to disconnect all other USB devices from the TV.
    6. Connect USB drive with a prepared file to the TV.
    7. Select the menu item "Apply update from external storage" with up/down buttons on remote control and start the "WipeDataTool.upg".
    8. Wait until you see the recovery menu again with confirmation message "WipeData completed".
    9. Use remote control to select "Reboot system now". TV needs to boot into the operating mode.
Warning! If the TV will continue to restart, contact your local Philips technical support to further address your Philips Android TV issue

Part B - Reinstall TV (All data/apps/settings will be deleted):
    1. Reinstall the device via Setup - General Settings - Reinstall TV
    2. Select "Yes".
    3. After displaying initial settings on TV screen, remove the power cord from the outlet for 10-15 minutes.

Hi guys. I’m stuck in the loop with my 43PUS6501 from 2016.

    Timeline:
    1. It got stuck around 1 year ago, wipedatatool helped, I turned the wifi off and it’s been working great with my Apple TV with Android 8 onboard.
    2. I upgraded to the latest firmware, tried out wifi, still causing problems (tv automatically restarting), so switched it off, and everything was fine.
    3. One month ago I turned the wifi on, it restarted after a few minutes, and it’s stuck in the loop ever since.

I’m pretty sure wifi is the problem and turning it off forever would solve the issue. But I can’t fix the loop this time.

    Things I’ve tried:
    1. Wipedatatools and alternatives from different sources. Some got aborted, others worked and were successful. Changed nothing, still in the loop.
    2. Installing different versions od software from Toengel’s site via „Update with SD card”. Installations were successful, but the firmware version stayed the same.
    3. Upgrade_tool for four different firmwares (two Android 7s, two 8s). All of them successful, firmware version changed, but the loop has not been fixed.
    3. Wipdedatatools after changing the software, no changes,

Is there anything left for me to try? I was thinking about downgradig to Android 6 or 5, but I can’t find upgrade_tools for them and it also doesn’t seem like different versions of software change anything. Another thing was to try disconnecting the network card physically inside the tv, but I’m not sure it’s possible and if it would be of any help. Any other ideas? :(

    Thanks from the mountain!

Hi again, wanted to follow up on my efforts.

I found one more upgrade_loader (on top of those from @Toengel) allowing me to downgrade to Android 5.1 (QM163E_U_0.1.15.15 – Date: 2016/08/12). I feel really dumb but i can't connect to my 40PFT5500 through adb via wifi. It says (all the time):
    List of devices attached
    192.168.0.117:5555 offline
    Make sure you:
    1. Enable "developer settings" first
    2. Also enable "USB debugging" under Developer options (in terminal emulator use ADB command: am start --user 0 -n com.android.settings/.DevelopmentSettings )
    3. Use ADB Total Commander plugin to make your life easier
    4. You are good to go...

On Philips 5500, connection over TCP with ADB worked with no problem, did reboot to recovery, wipedatatool was succesfull.

... but sadly it didn't work for me, after couple of minutes it did high pitched noise with full volume and restared, must be a hardware issue or something. I took to service and just hope they will repair it, because I'm hearing bad things from others.

In the boot recovery menu I had an additional option not in the image in the first post. Cash Cleanup, or something like that, I did run but it didn't solve the problem.
