No, it looks like 41.13(*). How do I go about updating it? I did a quick Google and couldn't find anything very promising.^^ The bootloader validation error happens when you are trying to flash an older bootloader. Does your phone have the 41.18 bootloader?
Which phone are you using? Current ROM? Unlocked bootloader? No, it looks like 41.13(*). How do I go about updating it? I did a quick Google and couldn't find anything very promising.
Yeah, I should have included that info; sorry. It's a US GSM 16gb - XT1034. ROM is stock 4.4.2 (KOT49H.M004). Bootloader is unlocked.Which phone are you using? Current ROM? Unlocked bootloader?
In the original post, it refers to the xt1033 and xt1032. I have no experience with the xt1034.Yeah, I should have included that info; sorry. It's a US GSM 16gb - XT1034. ROM is stock 4.4.2 (KOT49H.M004). Bootloader is unlocked.
That would be unfortunate, especially since the thread title says "convert any Moto G..."In the original post, it refers to the xt1033 and xt1032. I have no experience with the xt1034.
Perhaps the difference in model # is causing the error.
I could be wrong but many of the XT1032 phones only have 8 GB of RAM and yours has 16 which may be why the bootloader and gpt files cannot be flashed. That would be unfortunate, especially since the thread title says "convert any Moto G..."
Hmm. If you're right, then that's unfortunate. I suppose I can try to re-lock the bootloader and accept OTAs to 4.4.4, then see what the bootloader version is.I could be wrong but many of the XT1032 phones only have 8 GB of RAM and yours has 16 which may be why the bootloader and gpt files cannot be flashed.
OTA updates may work with an unlocked bootloader but probably need stock recovery, and no root.Hmm. If you're right, then that's unfortunate. I suppose I can try to re-lock the bootloader and accept OTAs to 4.4.4, then see what the bootloader version is.
I think I've got stock recovery, but I'm not sure, since when I try to go to recovery, the phone just shuts down. I've tried re-flashing the stock recovery from the zip in the OP, but I get a "hab check failed" message.OTA updates may work with an unlocked bootloader but probably need stock recovery, and no root.
I was able to OTA update my stock 4.4.4 to 5.02 with a locked bootloader.
You don't need to re-lock the bootloader in order to accept an OTA. As long as you aren't rooted and have the stock recovery you can get an OTA.Hmm. If you're right, then that's unfortunate. That's good to know. It seems the problem is my recovery is messed up. I'll try to sort that out with the link audit13 gave me.You don't need to re-lock the bootloader in order to accept an OTA. As long as you aren't rooted and have the stock recovery you can get an OTA.
I'm on my phone (XT1034, 16 gig like yours) right now so can't really get you the link, but you can search for the restore stock firmware thread and there will be a link to file factory where you can download the 4.4.4 US retail firmware (I assume you're is the unlocked retail version) and there are directions to flash via fastboot. I've done that a couple times with no problems to get a fresh phone. That will also give you the correct stock recovery. That's good to know. It seems the problem is my recovery is messed up. Yeah, that's the link I was referring to, that audit13 gave me. It's downloading now, but at ~100 KB/s, so I'll continue with this later this afternoon. I wish this were as easy as Nexus phones/my N4 weren't dying.I'm on my phone (XT1034, 16 gig like yours) right now so can't really get you the link, but you can search for the restore stock firmware thread and there will be a link to file factory where you can download the 4.4.4 US retail firmware (I assume you're is the unlocked retail version) and there are directions to flash via fastboot. That's the same bootloader I have. If you are in the bootloader you have to use the down volume to move to the option you want. Then you use the up volume to select, not power. [emoji1]Alright, I flashed everything from that factory image. The phone is on 4.4.4, with bootloader 41.13. Selecting "Recovery" in the bootloader and hitting power just results in the phone apparently turning back off. This doesn't seem normal, but I don't have experience with Motorola phones.
Ah, that does it. Ok, so now the question is can I convert my 4.4.4 XT1034 to GPE? By just following the instructions in the OP, or will I need any adjustments? That's the same bootloader I have.
