Hi - just saw this thread at XDA and figured better to continue here instead of the Lenovo controlled forum...

Rooting worked out great for me. My main concern was disabling some factory apps and the tablet works much smoother and recovered some of its battery life that I lost after lollipop. The primary culprit seems to have been Google Now Launcher vs built-in, which still seemed to fight for its place.
The temp bootloader in the front is somewhat outdated and didn't work for me since it doesn't allow for ignoring singature verification. The recovery tool version 'IntelAndroid-FBRL-07-24-2015' however did the job.

Anyway, I just received a 167MB update notification for YT2_830F_USR_S100250_1601190639_WW52_ROW. Did anyone try this. I assume it removes root but can it be re-rooted? Anyone try it yet?

Thanks

this is the thread you should read
this is the temp-recovery for installing SuperSU
from here download Super-SU
the drivers from here, install at least the Intel Android one

1. download the temp-recovery and SuperSU
2. extract temp-recovery somewhere. place SuperSU zip on your external sdcard or internal one
3. start launcher.bat from the extracted temp-recovery dir, choose the recovery (TWRP is fine) and as a trigger T4
4. it will reboot and start you in recovery, from there select install and select the SuperSU zip file
5. reboot and you have root
Just tried this with 830F using FBRL-05-16-2015 and SU v2.68
Everything goes as planned but doesn't reboot into recovery automatically. When I boot into recovery and apply the SU zip it errors with:

E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

Any ideas?

***EDIT***

scrap that, installing the Intel drivers and some reboots appear to have solved it.

See my posts 2 above yours http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65618265&postcount=141 - need a more recent FBRL, but looks like you found another way.
What Firmware version did you patch? There's a new 167MB update YT2_830F_USR_S100250_1601190639_WW52_ROW that nobody confirmed rootable yet.

Thanks.

Root method work also with the april update 16 mb
Build Number YOGATablet2-830F_S1008336_160408 firmware is still rootable.
You can apply the 16 MB update for version S1008336_160408

YT2_830F_USR_S100250_1601190639_WW52_ROW is also rootable.

Use IntelAndroid-FBRL-07-24-2015 and Choose T4 option, NOT T3

Doesn't this device have an unlocked bootloader available?

Might be a bad place to ask this, but is there any major difference between the 830 and the 851F? Could I install android on my 851F? Hardware (screen, processor, ram, ..) seems to be identical, I also have a running android build but i'm missing drivers for sound, screen (brightness), rotation.

I've got this tablet recently and I assumed that it has been updated to YT2_830F_USR_S100250_1601190639_WW52_ROW. I tried IntelAndroid-FBRL-07-24-2015 T4 option but I ended up recieving the signature verification failure message. I Did it some ten times, but always the same result. I will be very grateful if you describe the whole procedure to root this update. I've read almost every message in the thread. Still no luck.

For my tablet its normal, you have to disconnect it from PC and continue on the phone, install SuperSU from root folder and root is done.

I've disconnected the tablet from PC after the fastboot mode loaded and did the rest. but first of all I should mention that the fastboot mode page shows a blue coloured error message at the bottom as this: "E: No valid installer medium found."
Sorry to ask silly questions, but I wonder what do you mean by "root folder"? Is it connected to the error message?

Edit: I updated Intel Android USB Driver and it worked. Seems that this was the only problem. My device is now rooted. Thanks everyone for the guide.
