I'm really upset as this method isn't working. I've tried numerous times to downgrade to kitkat 4.4.2. I'm curently on Marshmellow 6.0.1. I flash Lollipop 5.0 in odin, bootup phone, run basic setup without accounts, run the install apks batt file then once done press continue to root. It loads up odin puts and tells me to flash NK2 kernel which I do. Then phone gets stuck on samsung boot screen. The phone cant reconnect without booting up? I then flash the PB1 kernel and i'm able to boot the phone completely. I run the rest of the rooting method and it fails. So how am I supposed to root on the NK2 kernel when my phone doesnt reconnect due to not being able to get past boot screen?
Please help me i'm beyond frusterated! Thanks!

Glad to see that you're not giving up.

Look, first you should flash Lollipop, say, BOK3.
Then you need go to settings, turn "developers options" on, go to developer options, turn "USB debugging" on and "Verify apps via USB" off.

Then connect the phone to your computer and simply run adb.exe. You should see a pop-up window on the phone's display, asking if you want to allow this computer... bla-bla-bla. Tick "Always allow" and press "yes".

Now your phone is ready for rooting and you may proceed with those bat-files.

P.S. After you flash NK2 kernel the phone will not boot completely. It's normal. Just read and do.

I was told it might not be working correctly because im using a VM on Mac. I already flashed Lollipop BP1. I turned on usb debugging on and verify apps via usb off. I ran adb the window popup up quickly then force closed. I checked off always allow this computwer after i connected the usb. After flashing the NK2 kernel it gets stuck on the samsung logo screen. In root bat it says waiting for phone to reconnect. It cant reconnect because the phone wont boot fully.

How do you run all that stuff?
The best way is to open a command prompt window, to cd to the folder containing bat-files and to run them by within your command prompt window.

I click on the first bat file Install apps and then it runs its process automatically from there.

Just don't click "run as administrator" because this will change the working directory and the bat-file will not find the necessary files.
That doesnt come up at all. It just goes right into the 1st bat. Like I said the problem i'm having is getting stuck on the samsung boot logo and the phone not being able to reconnect to finish the rooting process after flashing the NK2. I should have stayed on kitkat but curiosity finally got to me!

Ok, everything should work if you've managed to flash something and allow ADB connections.

The phone must get stuck at boot logo. It's normal. It cannot boot OK3 system with NK2 kernel.

Once you've flashed NK2 kernel and the phone stuck at boot logo, press ENTER in the bat-file window and the rooting process should begin.
When it ends you'll see something like many "########" and "ROOT DONE."

I'm not on an OK3. Im on baseband QB2. Once I press enter to start the rooting process it says waiting for phone to reconnect and nothing happens further. I tried to unplug and replug the phone in and that doesnt work.

Well, this rooting method works on Lollipop only. It will not work on QB2. You wrote you've flashed Lollipop earlier.

So how do I get back to KK on NCG? And if I can get the rooting process to work after the NK2 flash etc do I just flash KK firmware and NCG kernel?

Yes that is correct I flashed PB1 earlier. I was on PB1 baseband temporarily lollipop 5.0 which the guide indicates to be on. For the time being i'm back on Marshmellow QB2 until this gets resolved and I figure out how to get back to KK. I hope i'm not SOL! ... Also if I can get the rooting method to work do I just flash the original NCG along with the NCG kernel in Odin or safestrap/twrp recovery?

if you don't have anything now best bet is to try and start over, you will have to use a physical machine, a VM will cause issues with this, anything, even an old junky laptop running XP works.

I'm still using stock 6.0.1 with the unlocked bootloader and twrp. Would it be safe for me to flash a deoxed PB1 pre rooted rom using twrp? I'm still working on finding a solid fast internet connection to download it. May have to try starbucks. https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/development/vzwstock-based-tw-rom-3-4-16-t3329029

If that's not an option then I will have to wait till mid January and ask my folks if I can borrow their windows computer when I go to visit them. I dont have the money right now to spend on a computer. If I have to go back to the stock PB1 firmware thats unrooted and the rooting method works then do I just install safestrap and restore my KK NCG backup or do I have to flash stock NCG?

When I flashed my NCG backup on 6.0.1 in twrp I got back onto KK but the phones hardware wouldn't work.

That's right, of course.
And excuse me, I'm afraid I did for you everything I could.
Try to read the thread from the beginning.
I've read over the directions numerous times. I'm going to try the Lolliroot method when I visit my folks. They have an older windows computer I'll ask if I can use it. For the time being i'm on 6.0.1 MM. Since I have an unlocked bootloader I had tried to restore my 4.4.2 KK backup in which I did. But why didn't the hardware (camera, captive buttons etc) work once done? I even had flashed NCG kernel and modem!

Once I get on rooted Lollipop I can flash with flashfire my NCG backup? Then in Odin flash NCG kernel and modem correct? I hope my hardware will work on phone! I'm thinking last time it didn't work because I wasn't on PB1?
