NO, you won't lose IMEI... FTF files are NOT containing IMEI, user data etc
FTF files are factory firmware downloaded from Sony servers.

As far as I know, your IMEI number is stored in the Trim Area (TA), so as long as you don't mess with that, flashing is relatively safe. By the way, Flashtool uses the same method to flash your phone as Sony PC Companion/Sony Update Service/Sony Bridge for Mac. It only looks a bit scarier to newbiesthanks ^^
But, how some ppl "lost" their IMEI when they tried to flash their devices? Why even some devices became bricks if flash is "secure"?
Sorry for all this "newbie" questions but its my first time and im a bit nervous. I dont want an expensive brick![]()
It's in 'ProgramData', not 'Program Files (x86)'. Make sure that the option 'Show hidden files and folders' is enabled in folder settings if you can't find it.Hi Apollo89,
I have followed the process to download the ftf to PC using PC Companion on my Windows 8.1 PC. Only problem is, I don't have a'db' folder. Only C:\Program Files (x86)\SonyMobile\UpdateEngine then five seperate folders - configuration, jre, licenses, plugins, setup. Where is the ftf I downloaded? Any ideas?
This has been annoying me most of the evening, trying to start Custom Rom on 4.3 Myself
Thanks in advance,
:good:
Look it up in the list in the first post of this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2315914how can i know my original customization number if i changed it and i forgot ??
No, newer versions of Flashtool seem to exclude simlock.ta automatically.if simlock file doesn´t appear means that i have something wrong??
You can only download the latest version. Did you previously use Sony PC Companion or Sony Update Service to update or restore to Android 4.2.2? If yes, then you'll still have those files on your hard disk and you can immediately follow part C of the guide to create an FTF.I have a tablet with android 4.2.2., I want to create a ftf file of that. But is that possible? 4.3 is available on the servers now...
Thanks for any reply!

No, it's not the same. However, you can flash any other customization for SGP311, it doesn't really matter.that's too bad, I don't have. I need 4.2.2 vmo EU4 for sgp311. I can only finde it for sgp312 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2589475)
Or is it the same?
Ok thank you. I'll try that! No, it's not the same. However, you can flash any other customization for SGP311, it doesn't really matter.

But maybe create a backup FTF of SGP311 10.4.B.0.577 VMo EU4 firmware first. That's easier if you ever want to go back to your original customization for some reason. Uploading and sharing it here would also be niceOk thank you. I'll try that!
