It's the Exynos processors that have this kind of problem. Qualcomm based Smartphones don't have this problem as far as I know

I have the Snapdragon Note 3, and I have the wake lag too. It's driving me nuts, and is completely unacceptable on this type of device (aka expensive and supposedly the most powerful in the world currently).

If I can't fix it, this baby will be sold. Heck, my Nokia Lumia 520 (that I bought for $70 as a backup phone) has 0 wake lag.

you download this and the script
Extract the zip file to obtain a .xml file then open tasker, click on profiles ( click on the label on top) , import and navigate to the xml file

I really appreciate this fix but I can't apply it to my note2, it's too difficult for me ...
At the moment I'm using an app called "softlocker free"... It's the same?

There's not another app that disable the deep sleep without compiling and editing files manually?

Thanks

Could something like this be used to emulate the always on listening used to voice unlock some newer phones?

The Snapdragon 800 apparently has a separate, low power chip which allows it to listen all the time without burning through battery.

Could dedicating a single core do something similar?

I have no problem with jellykat v5. KitKat 4.4.2. I read that this is a common KitKat 4.4.2 problem. Luckily I'm not encountering this problem.
