The png patch works as a license. If you are getting the insert sd card, the patch likely worked, however it may also be the sd card - depending on it's source. Another issue has been with the Ford Sync Ver 3.10 - many have had problems activating navigation. Did the Naviupdate AG file go in? The USB you use should be formatted with Fat 32 or Xfat and the update file should only have the SyncMyRide folder (unopened) and the Autoinstall.lst file. It sounds like you did everything you should but I repeat here in the event you missed something. If you are looking for a license file, then do a search for tedi-k on XDA and PM him about it. I activated Navigation opn a 2015 Lincoln MKC with Sync 3.08 years ago and later tedi-k put out a 3.10 (it's on this site) and I used that. I went back to 3.08 to put Ford's 3.10 on and there were a few issues but Nav worked so I went back to 3.08 and put Tedi-k's 3.10 file. During that time the Naviupdate AG came out so I put that on. Eventually i went back to 3.08 and put Ford's 3.10 back on.
Navigation worked in all the various moves I made.
You don’t happen to have a copy of the license file do you? I found the post, but the file was no longer available. I also have sent a message to Tedi-k. If not, not a problem, but thought I would at least ask.

See XbillA 's post on this site. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/myford-touch-navigation-activation-only.3368080/page-71. I don't think someone's license file will work for you unless you buy one created specifically for your vehicle. XbillA outlines some of the issues he went through till he got nav. enabled.
Okay thanks for the info! I haven't heard from Tedi-k unfortunately. So I'm at a bit of a standstill until I hear something. Thank you!

Hi, all. I know this is old stuff, but I am stuck. Installed the sync2 3.10 update from the Ford Website, used Forscan to enable Nav. Got nav app and navipatch put on and I now have the small compass and can insert my SD card and the car identifies my location fine. However, everytime I launch the actual navigation app it shows my location on a map, but, it only stays on for about 10-15 seconds and immediately dumps back to the home screen. I am confounded. At one point, I did attempt to roll back to 3.08, but that did not work and it got stuck in a continuous re-installation loop. I appreciate any guidance or advice that anyone has. I AM SO CLOSE TO HAVING IT WORKING GRRRRR!

If I remember correctly, I believe the last thing you have to do after you do the 3.10 update and then do the nav patch is do a soft reset go on the screen, go to the system, then reset after you enable the patch nav by going to background selecting it and when it's selected, click it on the preview image on the left hand side then do the reset

Thank you cyclops, I did activate the nav patch that way many times. It even puts up a "nav activated" message, or something similar....no avail.

Did you also install the 3 sync navi files for 3.10 from a separate usb after getting the "nav activated"?

Try this. Take out the nav sd card, do the soft reset.
Go back and add the navi patch background and click it. The put in the USB drive with the 3 navigation install files on it, liking file below just in case. Once install is done do a soft reset, system --> settings --> reset (or something like that)
insert nav sd card and cross fingers

You probably need Riochim's Nav update file for Sync 2 Version 3.10. It's in this thread. I would read the pages here that are appropriate. Riochim and I've posted how do this procedure to update the navigation when you have version 3.10. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/myford-touch-navigation-activation-only.3368080/page-67

Tried that, no avail. The App is on there, it finds my location. One thing I noticed, in the info screen where you can push the where am I button. It would show my location, then no location, then show it again. On and off repetitively. I wonder if it keeps losing the card or if the card is bad. And that is why the software keeps closing.

Take the nav card out when it has your location and see if you get that same result or if it comes up on the screen with two options, sue sd card or services

Confirmed working as of 4/19/19

Worked on my 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid SE (With a slight change)

I followed the instructions, but hit a snag with step #9. Step #9 notes to change the first two numbers from "00" to "04". I tried this, and completed the rest of the steps, and it did not unlock navigation for me. For my car, the first two numbers were "20". Since the instructions suggest just changing the second number from a "0" to a "4", I did that, making my first two numbers "24". This DID unlock navigation for me once I completed the other steps.

I purchased an "A8" navigation card from amazon. The seller said that the card would not work in a vehicle that did not have navigation enabled by default by the manufacturer, but it worked nonetheless.

Thank you so much to OP. Give this a try. Navigation works great!
im having an issue with my 2013 fusion hybrid. yours is the only poet that i have seen for a hybrid. i'm not having any luck with this.

I have tried to change the second position from 0 to 4 with no change in the state of the system.

Have you found any other forums that may have some insight?

What's the version of your Sync 2. It has to be Version 3.08 to work. 3.10 is the latest, but 3.10 from Ford is a bit more difficult to enable navigation.

I did this mod and works great but one thing... if I loose GPS signal, the nav shuts down and closes to the home screen of sync2. Anyone else have this issue? 3.1 seems worse. 3.08 fixes its self within 15 minutes on its own. Ford edge.
I know this is pretty old at this point, but I am having the same problem in my escape. Any resolution for you?

Nope. I tried everything. Flash this and that and still crashes. Think it might be the actual hardware since only a few are effected by it. I just live with it since I use my phones Google maps to do all navigations.

I thought it would be nice to distill all of the information provided in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3368080 into an easy to follow guide. This method was originally described here: https://www.drive2.ru/l/10018006/

Before you proceed, please understand the following:
    • I am very new to modifications like this and I'm not very knowledgeable. If you mess something up, I probably won't be able to help you.
    • The following guide is the steps that I took to get this working on my 2012 Ford Focus. I'm not aware of any car model-specific issues, but that doesn't mean that there aren't any.
    • This guide is for North American cars. If you live in a different region this will still probably work, but you will need to use the MyFord Touch system software files that correspond to your region.

    What you will need:

    Got everything? Let's get started:

    1. Plug (or pair, if you're using a Bluetooth adapter) your OBD2 interface into the OBD2 port on your car.
    2. Put your key in the car and turn it to the On position (the first click after off. Do not put it in accessory mode, which is the second click).
    3. Start up Forscan. You should be on the Vehicle and Interface Information screen (the icon looks like a car with an "i" in a yellow circle on top of it).
    4. Click on the icon that looks like two power cables plugged in to each other to connect to your car. You'll see some information start to populate the log. Wait until it is completely finished.
    5. Forscan might show you a menu with different vehicle options to pick. Pick yours from the list. In my case, it asked if my Focus was 2012 or 2013.
    6. If at any time Forscan asks if you want to save something so you can back it up later, say yes.
    7. Click on the icon that looks like a microchip and under the Configuration and Programming tab, select APIM and press the play icon.
    8. You'll see a lot of fields that are labeled with numbers that start with 7D0. Click the disk icon at the bottom of the screen to save a copy of these original values.
    9. Find 7D0-01-02 and change the first two numbers in the first field from 00 to 04. Click Write to save the change.
    10. You'll see a warning message about the checksum being bad. Click yes to ignore it and continue with the change.
    11. Go back to the Vehicle and Interface Information screen (the icon looks like a car with an "i" in a yellow circle on top of it) and click the unplugged power cables icon to disconnect your computer from the car. You can remove the OBD2 interface now if you like.
    12. Put the png file that you downloaded earlier on to a USB flash drive and plug it into the USB port in your car.
    13. In MyFord Touch, go to settings -> display, and find the setting for changing the wallpaper (I forget exactly what it's called).
    14. Click on Add, and select your USB drive. Highlight the png file, and in the preview box, you should see a blue button that says "enable nav" or something like that. Press it, and you should see "nav enabled" appear above it.
    15. Extract the nav-related files to your USB flash drive and plug it in to your car. It will install some things (be patient, let it finish) and when it's done, you should see an "i" icon at the bottom of your home screen.
    16. Insert your navigation SD card into your car's SD card slot, and you should be good to go.

Hopefully you now have access to a navigation system that is every bit as sub-par but adequate as the rest of the MyFord Touch system. Congrats!

UPDATE: Someone just told me that their car wouldn't read their map card until they installed the package that I labeled optional, so it might be worth a shot if you didn't use it and you're having issues. Again, that package is specific to North America, so if you need a different region, you'll have to find it yourself unless some helpful reader wants to provide a link, and I'll post it here.

I followed these steps pretty much exactly and everything works perfect. I did a master reset and I did not install the optional update pack and I had no issues with my map card.

also worth noting to fix IPC so instead of compass it says Navigation:
    720-01-01 E5C0-29BE-24D9 needs to be E5C2-29BE-24DB

update: my middle/last part of that string did not match exactly, however changing the 2 bits still fixed the cluster to say Navigation.

    Hi

I have a problem. I do the steps on my mondeo 2015 Europe but doesnt work. If I insert card says bad SD card. Insert valid SD card..
Do anybody have an idea what ia wrong?
Is maybe bad SD card, or something else?

    Regards

I had the same problem as this and it turns out there is a fix, download this zip folder (w w w.dropbox.com/s/llahdixb1ctj6hx/NaviUpdate_5.67.6.zip?dl=0) place the syncmyride folder and the autoinstall file in the root of a usb stick. The sync system will update and reset, once done so it will come up with the prompt to insert your nav SD card, once you do it should all work.

Hope this helps anyone else, the information in this thread has been very useful :good:

Nav In Motion is a Region Change (telling the car it's from a region without restrictions on entering data while driving). When you enable Nav In Motion, you lose Sirius stuff. This is documented in the real Nav Activation threads.

Also, you mucked with your AsBuilt, never tried setting it back to stock when you had a problem, blamed/nagged Sirius until they gave you a free subscription, and then when that didn't work you went to the dealership to have them investigate your hacked system?

I'm surprised they didn't reset your AsBuilt data. I also hope they charged you 3 hours of labor.

The ACM bit does nothing as far as we know. No reason to change it. Nobody has reported any benefit or even any change from doing so.

After a few attempts I finally have Nav on our 2013 Edge. I'm grateful for the assistance I received from a fellow member. We spoke last night and I had missed 1 step in the activation process and that was all it took. I used the png method without doing a Master reset.
Again many thanks to this site and it's members for the help.
