Hi. I have T-Mobile and I tried the secret code mentioned without rooting my phone, unlocking the bootloader or anything. I can see VoLTE as an option turned on in my mobile settings and I was able to make a VoWiFi call. I was however unsuccessful making a VoLTE call as the signal dropped to 3G immediately.

Does this mean if I follow the full solution outlined that VoLTE will not work if it does not work with the secret code?

"There's a secret code you can use to force-enable it, but unfortunately it does not survive a reboot (not sure why ASUS didn't make it persistent).
Enter this in the dialler:
Code:
*#*#3642623344#*#*
The number will clear itself, and you shouldn't see any output if it succeeded."

Thanks. How do I tell which LTE bands are on my Tencent CN version of the device? Is there an app or a code I can type in to show all the bands supported by my version of the device?

Thank you all so much.

One more question: I have the US version of the device too with band 66. If it's likely already got the ww ROM on it, when rooting it, can I use the patch ww ROM over an existing WW ROM?

You will need to write the mbn to get VoLTE; the mbn contains settings and such for it to work properly. That dialler code and the properties just force the system to enable VoLTE, but without the proper settings it won't work.

When rooted you can use Network Signal Guru to check the available bands.

So you have both, the tencent version, and us version?? The tencent will ABSOLUTELY NOT have band 66. The Global version does. No way to enable extra bands on tencent.

I just figured something out. The US version I have is the I001DC which has band 66

The tencent CN one is I001DA and looks to be lacking bands 12 and 66.

Relock and UnRoot after completed?

It worked and thank you so much!!!

Can I "UnRoot" and keep VoLTE?

Can I "Relock" the bootloader and keep VoLTE?

Appreciate any assistance!

Thanks

Let me know if this works for you, or if you have any questions.
Does it work on SIM2 for anybody? It does not for me, only SIM1 and breaks if I move my SIM card to 2 then back to 1. I find you have to reflash it to get it to work again for some reason.

Is there a method to get it to work on SIM2? Only because on tencent, SIM2 has band28 enabled defaults.

I've just gone through with the guide and have successfully enabled VoWiFi and VoLTE on Orange Romania. How can I buy you a beer, @HomerSp ?
Great, glad to hear it's working! No beers needed (I don't actually drink beer), just happy to help out the community!

Yes, unrooting is fine. Locking the bootloader again requires a factory reset, which will remove the properties necessary for VoLTE to be enabled - so if you do this you will have to run the dialler cod that's mentioned in the guidee on each boot, because you need root to set those properties..

I've updated EfsTools and the guide to allow the second SIM slot to work. Simply grab EfsTools 0.10 modded 1.2 from the guide and run the new command under Step 4.

Thanks. I'm slightly confused as when I bring up Magisk Manager or Network Signal Guru or Root Explorer, they are all telling me I no longer have Root access.

I finished everything last night and then I saw and downloaded the latest Dec build on Asus website and did a local install from putting it in the Root directory.

Could that have wiped my Root access?

My bootloader is still unlocked and all the VoLTE and VoWiFi goodness still works. Any thoughts and thank you.

Yes, flashing the latest firmware will have removed root so you will have to reflash the magisk boot image (make sure it's for your current firmware build) if you want root again.

SIM2 Vo(x) works, b28 volte too.

Now I'm wondering what restrictions are on SIM2 as it appears to only detect 3g b5 and 4g b28? I will test a bit further....
Never mind, 4g bands 3,5,7 all detected.

WW hardware version looks to be a better buy with this much workarounds.

Works great for me thanks! I just got the phone and within an hour was able to:
1. Unlock the bootloader
2. Update to latest firmware
3. Flash root boot image and install magisk
4. Use OP's DIAG guide
5. Use this VoLTE guide

Everything works! Thanks OP and to the rest of this phone's XDA community.

I'm using AT&T, and I followed the guide and it works to get VoLTE on my device. But shortly after starting the phone up the first time with the SIM card, VoLTE gets disabled, assumedly from AT&T doing some provisioning. Should this be happening? I'm using WW-16.0631.1910.64, and I've tried using a few different MBNs, including the ASUS VivoVoWiFi_v5 one from the first guide. Does this sound like a purely MBN issue? I'm surprised to see that many folks had AT&T working on the first guide, because I followed that after this one and had the same experience where I'm shutdown after a bit of being VOLTE.

Tried this on the US version and one difference I noticed right away is the fingerprint SW is not listed as WW or CN but as "US".

Followed all the steps as with my CN version (not needing to change software to WW as it had that) and the WiFi keeps turning itself off. You turn it on, it turns off... So I was not able to get to the final step of using the last 2 tools via WiFi with port 2500 open in firewall.

Anyone have any ideas what to do?

EE Volte

Followed the guide which was simple and easy to follow. I used the MBN for EE and vowifi is working great. Volte is not working but says it's provisioned under the phone info. Any ideas what I'm missing?

So after some testing I installed the Vivo MBN from the outdated guide and I get Volte straight away but do not getting any caller id. Anyone help me out with a MBN that I could try. So close to having my Rog phone 2 just the way it should have been from the factory
