How do I manually update my rooted stock GS3 from LJ7 to the newest build? is there a place I can just download a zip and then load it through ClockworkMod?

Alternative 3: Freeze the Software Update app with a program like TitaniumBackup
1. Open the app
2. Scroll to the "All Apps" list, or similar
3. Select the app by either long-pressing on it or selecting its checkbox
4. Freeze it using the menu that either pops up, or is floating at the top or at the bottom
5. Profit
1) What is the name of the Software Update app? Is it "System Update 1.0.72J (1)"? (I have JB 4.1.2 loaded, I think).
2) Do you know of any side effects that might occur from freezing this?

Thanks.

I would like to update to 4.1.2, originally i had rooted stock "everything" including the recovery. I tried to apply the update and it failed, now the phone is a little screwy, it isnt updating to 4.1.2, (it is stuck at 4.1.1) and it doesnt show up on my list of devices in the play store anymore. the first time the update failed, i lost root and re-rooted, this time sticking CWM in as a custom recovery.

If i just flash the rooted ROM, will that be enough, or were the radios/kernel/etc updated this last time around? (OR does the "full rom" flash take care of this). Also, if i flash the stock rooted ROM, will i need to backup my apps/data or can i flash overtop of it without needing to do a restore?

Not a complete noob, but enough to be dangerous...any help is appreciated thanks

This being an ota thread, I thought I'd be the first to mention here that md4 released today and some users have already gotten notifications of it.

I have another method linked over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249350

If you think it would be beneficial to drop this in as another alternative you are welcome to add it!
Yes, of course! I came across this while writing my guide in a thread here on XDA, but by then my S3 was broken and I couldnt test to see if it actually worked so i wouldnt be misguiding anyone :(
But thanks for confirming that it works!

thanks for the guide!

Cnexus, want to say "thanks" for your ota guide. Just got my s3, just got SU (first timer), then I find out we're getting an update!
Freaked out. Found your guide on ota's. Read through it and relaxed a bit. Followed your link to freeza's thread. Now I'm 100%
md4, and I'll never sweat another ota again!
Thanks again,
