Read the OP please, it's explained there.
I read the OP. You are only updating boot, recovery and system and not any other areas. But aren't these other areas supposed to be in sync with boot, recovery and system? If I have gpt from, say, 4.4.4, and downgrade to 4.2.2 - what if 4.4.4 gpt doesn't have something that 4.2.2 system needs? This is a part I don't quite understand.

My possible goal is downgrade from 4.4.4 (4.4.4 was achieved by OTA by previous device owner I assume because device arrived with locked bootloader which I have since unlocked) to 4.2.2 due to 4.4.4 having some Wi-Fi issues

And another question about OP: you mentioned the phone will ask to downgrade Motorola Services. How does the phone know that you even had a later version of them before on your phone? Didn't we just flash whole new system image, so there should be no trace of previous one?

partition table and kernel are supported by the lp bootloader, therefore you don't need to flash these or the modem in order to downgrade, hence skipped in the procedure. Such thing as "being in sync" doesn't exist when it comes to this downgrade.

Also it's good to mention that messing with any fs is a bad idea, especially with the fragile ext4.

Going to 4.2.2 is your own choice, but the most you might get as a problem is soft brick.

Good luck.

Thank you for your response.

How is 4.2.2 is different from 4.4.4 as far as this downgrade is concerned? If I understood it right downgrade to 4.2.2 is more problematic?

Not sure how much more problematic it is, I know only 2 ppl that have downgraded from 5.1 to 4.2.2. Although they were successful in doing that, your milage may vary. Also I don't think that your wifi problems will be solved if you go back to that version, since the stock wifi modules didn't really change trough time.

Anyway, good luck and report back with your success/failure with this downgrade, it may help someone in the future.

The thing is I have another phone of the same model (XT1053) at 4.2.2 and it doesn't experience these issues (disconnects/application exit during 4-500 MB Copilot map downloads)

I have a question for anyone who downgraded via this method

Does waving your hand over the device cause the display to breathe? aka wave to wake?

I wanna see if it still works after this downgrade
