[GUIDE][FLASH] How to keep flashing without AUTH or EDL on V12.0.5.0 or higher MIUI versions in MERLIN ? (Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 / Xiaomi Redmi 10X 4G)

Works with:

- Xiaomi Redmi Note 9
- Xiaomi Redmi 10X 4G


If you try to flash in EDL mode, it will requires an authentication.
If you want to use flash tool on MIUI V12.0.5.0 or higher versions, you need to flash the stock rom preloader using V12.0.4.0 (or lower).
It will works perfectly with lower preloader binary version.

With an older preloader version, your phone will can receive DA files and accept flashing.
For flashing, you need to turn off and plug your phone in usb without pressing any key.
If you press any key, it will enter in EDL mode and requests authentication.

I have a question, how can I go to edl on redmi note 9? I tried pressing - volume button but it leads me to fastboot mode. And if I press + it leads me tu normal recovery, is there other way to go to edl mode? Already downloaded py libraries and libusb. Thanks!!

You need to plug the usb cable while pressing the key combination.
If you are having problems, just attach the screenshot.

I am doing that. I power off the phone, I plug the usb cable pressing the key combination but instead of getting to edl mode, it goes to fastboot. I cant take a screenshot of the device while being on fastboot but it is like that:

Apparently your device is not being detected. You need to install the properly USB driver.

What? Nope. It is detected perfect. Do I need to run a software while connecting and doing the combination? It's detected instantly on pc both power off and on. I just can't get into edl mode. Is there something I need to do and missing? I can make a video showing I follow steps

If you are trying to bypass the EDL authentication, you need to execute the bypass.bat before to enter in EDL mode.

But in order to add device in libusb as device filter, isn't necesary to go to EDL mode FIRST?

What I'm trying to do is to go to edl mode, simple as that. Key combination doesn't work. Can you please make a tutorial to enter edl mode? Google just says to pin some contacts.

I did set up python libraries, bypass using brom exploit, and installed libusb, da and scatter file in sp flash tool. I just need to go into edl mode in order to add device filter and perform bypass

For Redmi Note 9, you need to turn off, hold vol. down and plug the usb cable.
If you can't hear the sound of a new device, your device is not being detected.

Did you install python libraries?
If your device has a hardware problem, so yes, your device is fully dead.
Try to send it to xiaomi centre, is your best chance.

And fastboot is not adb.

No, you run the command in fastboot. It will place you in EDL.

If you are capable of accessing fastboot, just connect to a PC with ADB tools loaded via USB and run the ADB command
<fastboot oem EDL> and it will put you in EDL mode.

Every time I try to flash I end up with this error .I have tried this for 12.0.1,12.07,12.0.8,12.5.1 for 1 full day trying my luck with any of these but every time I get this screen after the Download Da 100%.Everything has gone well before this step. I have even disabled protection If someone could help I would be grateful .Thanks in advance

sorry, I am not familiar with flashing Mediatek, only Snapdragon. However, the problem may be that you are trying to flash a Global image through EDL on a Chinese variant phone? You can't do that. You need to flash the original rom for the device and then unlock the bootloader. You can then flash the Global rom using MiFlash in fastboot.
