Hi, I need help with one of the step to root the phone. So i was able to flash the .tar file on the phone using the custom Odin but I couldn't flash SU on the phone. Whenever I tried to run the root.bat file the cmd return this:

C:\adb\super>adb wait-for-device
'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Please help!
This error means you do not have the adb files in your folder with all your root files. You must have all the files together for it to work. Find your adb files and put them in that folder that has your su files and your root.bat files and it will work. It looks like you have a super folder inside your adb folder. No sub folders, put all the files in one folder.
Thanks again for this. So, If I have the actual unlocked phone which already has the U firmware, I can skip a few steps and just root, do the cpu fixes, etc., right? The only thing I don't like about this phone is lack of voicemail notifications since the U firmware is stripped of that function.

Or is it better for me to perform all of the steps knowing I can flash the full U firmware to get back to the original state if I have to?
Since you already have the U firmware I would jump straight to rooting and then modifying Verizon files. Your U firmware should be gtg.

One last question: since I would include the VZW modified files, does that mean I lose the functionality of it being truly unlocked to all carriers? Am I then tied to VZW? I ask because I also have a TMO and Fi sim.

That's a great question.... I would assume that it would be equivalent to having a Verizon s7e and putting a T-Mobile or ATT sim in it, which should be fine. I can't say for sure because i don't have those sims to try though. Worse comes to worse you can revert the CSC file to the original one, although over on the att thread they had no specific att features on the original CSC file.

My honest opinion is you will be fine, because every other Verizon phone that is sim unlocked works with other carrier sims no problem. This would be a similar scenario.

So true and it then becomes a moot point. Or I could just root and not perform the vzw fixes but won't have some functions like the vmail app usage. Thanks again.

Yea I have always found both of those through the play store. But the other module I listed (xtouchwiz) can only be found through xposed downloads.

I can't load in Odin the kernel: see attached. It never rebooted and I waited 10 minutes. Did it take?

All files were placed in same folder and usb debugging activated.

NVM: Got it! I had to try a few times. All is good and rooted. Implementing vzw fixes now.

What we need is a fixed 935U ROM with all the minimum VZW features (HD calling and Visual Voicemail) enabled :). The other VZW bloatware that comes on the phone can be downloaded from the Play Store.

Everything was working fine on the PE1 firmware, but since I flashed this firmware I can make calls but cannot receive them or send or receive texts?

I totally agree! Hopefully a ROM developer will have pity on us and build us one ?

Hmm that's very odd. I would start over from the beginning. I have not had any of those issues and have made and received phone calls, and made and received texts with no issues. I also came from Verizon firmware. Did you implement the fixes listed in the guide? It kinda sounds like the fixes are not in place.....

Ok, I am rooted and used the vzw fixes but they didn't implement: HD calling is greyed out though active on my account and the security notice warning is still there. WiFi did did get fixed. Probably because I remained on the U firmware and didn't flash the VZW firmware and then root, etc.

Just a FYI to everyone jrkruse has apparently released a U ROM that has the fixes built in. You still have to be on the U firmware and rooted before you can flash the ROM, so basically you still need to do step 1&2 here before you can flash that ROM with flashfire. However flashing that ROM would eliminate step 3, the manual fixes for Verizon. So you have options. Personally not sure flashing an entire ROM just for two Verizon fixes is worth it, but I'm sure jrkruse will add features and make it awesomeness. It is debloated so there is that. He has also posted a debloated Verizon ROM, which if I was still on Verizon firmware would be a no brainer to flash, as it includes all the Verizon fixes including the tether hack and whatnot. Either way, here is the link if you want to check it out.

It's unclear if his U ROM has the minimum VZW features built-in though. I saw no reference to whether he was able to push in VVM and VoLTE in that particular ROM.

I think at the very top of the thread he says he has implemented the volte fix, but no I don't see anything on vvm or anything like that

I started getting this service provider update popup that would force me to hit okay which would restart my phone... It had something to do with the sim activation because it would stop the pop up as soon i removed the sim card. it was driving me nuts, I had to factory flash the firmware over...

I've updated the app but the binaries will fail. I suggest not updating the app because now when you open the app it tells you to update the binaries every time. Annoying
