I found a G935V on the ground with Marshmallow on it (Verizon-supplied firmware PI3). I factory reset and bypassed the FRP and rooted it with the engineering bootloader without any problems.

Then I flashed the G935U for Verizon firmware QD2 (nougat) - it booted into the new OS just fine!
I even successfully flashed the Virgin Mobile variant of the "U" QD2 firmware (I have a Virgin SIM and I thought the phone might support enough bands to try using it cross-carrier).

In both cases, flashing the QD2 firmware and then the engineering bootloader resulted in a bootlooping phone WITHOUT "custom" shown on the boot screen (which keeps looping). Each time I could only force reset the phone and get into Download mode and reload some firmware.

So I went back to official G935V Verizon firmware, but this time QA4 (also Nougat). Naturally that flashed just fine as it's an official upgrade for the device. However, loading the engineering bootloader ALSO BOOTLOOPED THE PHONE (and still no "custom").

Does the engineering bootloader only work for devices on pre-nougat firmware?

I had the same issue. Resolved the bootloop with a package disabler. See details here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72117506&postcount=318

So I'm rather new to rooting the S7 Edge, so apologize in advance. I had followed this guide to root and experienced the horrible lag and battery drain with engineering build.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039

I had found some other guide to optimize the phone with free programs which helped a lot but the lag returns every so often and get annoying. Wad debating going back to stock and deal with the OTA to nougat (which will disable my tethering since still on grandfathered unlimited data with Verizon)

Anyways question is, does anyone know performance difference from stock with this build, also will I have to return to stock and then root with this method? Once again rather noobish to this phone, thanks in advance.

Anyone can help me? I am staying in India. I have imported S7 edge SM-G935v. It is now with android 7.0 naught. But it has Verizon bloatware, Verizon apps, Verizon boot up logo. It shows some card not from Verizon when I use local GSM sim card in india. Calls, messages work fine. Data is not working.
How to use firmware which is open to any GSM card and without Verizon bloatware?
If I flash G935U firmware, Will it be free from all the Verizon bloatware? PLEASE HELP.

My phone bricked so i used this to reset it, Worked great letting the phone download android updates right now to get Android 7 (on 6.0.2) and going to root after. Thanks for this, Its cool having this from the Vzw or ATT firmwares has more features and less bloat, witch is nice.

I am happy to admit that I was right AND I was wrong about this at the same time. A little more digging brought me to this testing report, and as you can see, the SM-G935 A/V/P/T & R4 are all listed as one and the same. So that led me to believe that if the A and V variants are listed as the same phone, they must support the same frequencies... Right?

So I was wrong in my previous post: The SM-G935V will work on AT&T's band 17 (700Mhz). And just to make sure, I confirmed it myself as you can see in the screen-cap. You'll have to take my word that it was a Verizon S7 Edge. :)

However, I was also right in that if you look at the testing report, you won't see Band 17 listed as one of the bands tested. I wonder why? Regardless, it works and like I said, I've confirmed it.
Flashing the U firmware onto the AT&T & T-Mobile versions would unlock WCDMA 900mhz band 8?

I have the US CELLULAR 935R4, which I flashed the U
Firmware with T-Mobile baseband (for LTE mimo 4x4) but since the 935R4 supports that band, I wondered if it will enable that band on AT&T and T-Mobile variants.

I did this to my Verizon s7 edge earlier cause I'm going to use it on cricket. It keeps rebooting when I'm trying to get it set up. I did not root it or anything. I wiped cache and factory reset buy it keeps rebooting.

Hey guys, I have 935V. I want to use on Sprint. Can I flash 935U or 935P? Also if I want to leave Sprint later, can I just flash back to 935V? Would my IMEI remain unlocked? Thanks!

Just to share my experience, I own a SM-G935V (Verizon), but meanwhile I've changed to T-MOBILE US.

I'm also traveling a lot and constantly changing SIM cards. With the Verizon firmware besides having all the Verizon bloatware that I no longer need, it was always painfull to get the right APN settings and get the 3G/4G/LTE working on other networks worldwide.

I recently flashed the firmware version number PDA G935UUES4BQG1 and CSC G935UOYM4BQG1 (SM-G935U XAA) with Odin, and since than everything is working fine and no more issues with SIM cards. Verizon bloatware is gone and I've notice a big improvement on the battery life.

I'm currently in Europe using a Vodafone Sim card and as soon I inserted it, all the APN settings were automatically installed with no issues.

Looks like everything else is also working and so far I had no issues with other phone features.

Hope this feedback can help someone experience the same issues I was having before.

Thank you all.
