Ok so I rooted my phone 2 years ago and I'm running 6.0.1 with G935VVRU2APE1, the security patch level is from June 1, 2016, yes I'm wayyy behind. I'd like to go to Nougat or Oreo if possible with a fresh start/data wipe. Not concerned with root atm.

Where do I start? I've read through a lot of forum pages but no one has a build as old as mine it seems. According to updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?q=SM-G935v (can't post proper link) the latest build for 6.0.1 is G935VVRU4API3. Can I go from APE1 to API3 without issue following "{GUIDE} Flashing the SM-935U firmware onto your Verizon S7 Edge and Rooting" or does it have to be a certain prior version?

From there will an OTA update or an official stock odin file get me to Nougat/Oreo? Thank you in advance!
yes you can, just download the build you want to use, extract it with winrar and flash bl, ap, cp and csc with odin. Im not sure about the OTA, i never used them
at 23/08/2018:
lastest oreo is G935UUES4CRG3
lastest nougat is G935UUEU4BRD1
lastest marshmallow is G935VVRU4API3

Got it to work :)

So posting my (failure but then) success story in case it helps someone else!

First of all... ALL the files in PART 1 here are outdated! I used updato.com to find the current version of 935U for Oreo, yes I went from Marshmallow 935V, skipped Nougat, to Oreo 935U! Also you HAVE TO USE Odin3 v3.13.1_3B_PatcheD.exe or later WITH OREO! Find it here https://www. droid views .com/download-odin-tool-for-samsung-galaxy-devices-all-versions/ Trying any previous version of Odin (like the v3.12 here) will give you “emmc_appsboot.mbn.lz4” error. Not sure if that applies to Nougat. After an hour of failed Odin (3.12) attempts, trying different USB cables/ports firmwares reinstalling Samsung USB drivers, etc, even soft bricking my phone (wouldnt boot, stuck on GalaxyS7 boot screen, but WOULD go into download mode), it finally worked. After searching around and finding Odin 3.13, it worked on the first try. It was like watching your team score the winning shot after trailing behind for so long lmao.

Took an OTA update and now I'm at G935UUES4CRG3 July 1, 2018 security patch level. Used Smart Switch to get my data restored and I'm back in business :)

can you please help me
You will need to use a different Odin version if you are flashing oreo. I had the same issue flashing, because I used my old odin and failed or had a soft brick all the times. As someone mentioned 2 posts above, use the 13.3.1. patched version. It worked flawless for me after previous and multiple fails with other versions - I'm attaching it here.

This site below , gives you all ODIN versions and which specific one you should use depending on the android version you want to flash. It will save you time and some failed attemps while flashing.

@dajmanjt ,
NOTE: Some users have experienced endless boot loop; this seems to be caused by using a package disabler that disabled certain services. If you used one and end up getting an endless boot loop try wiping the cache and factory reset the phone.
I wasn't able to overcome it, wiped all couple of times and my phone keeps boot loop.
Flashed G935UUEU4BQD2_G935UOYM4BQD2 again and the phone rebooted successfully.
BTW, it was the G935P converted to G935U

You are mistaken. Verizon s7edge u firm received a February 2019 security update that included a new bootloader that is fused. Uueu9csa3. No go on flashing anything but stock . No Root. No more flashing eng.boot

I'm new to all of this. Do I download those first files directly to the phone and then put it into download mode? How long does it take? Or do I download them to my computer and transfer them to the phone through a USB cable?

Any suggestion or solution .

If *#1234# shows a model number G935"F" then your phone is definitely on Exynos chipset. Just because the IMEI checker shows that your IMEI is ok, that doesn't mean your phone is a QC chipset. So head over to the Exynos threads, this will NOT work for you. Besides, Exynos phones have an unlocked bootloader, therefore your can easily root them via TWRP/Magics without messing around with Eng-Boot files.

Technically the "U" firmware is NOT "unlocked", instead it's "unbranded", meaning that it will not magically unlock your network, it just won't install the usual carrier bloatware. If anyone is looking to root any US version S7/S7edge, here's a guide for the latest bootloader version A/10 > https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=81410291&postcount=1850
