Yes, basically that is what I did. And without the OK button, you have to double click on the FTF nameBy reading his post, I assume this is what he did:
Instead of using the 64 bit version of flashtool he used the 32 bit version (click and run "Flashtool" instead of "Flashtool64" in your c:/Flashtool folder)
.

Debugging is ON, i'm using win 7 64 bit and there is no option to turn off MTP mode in settings\xperia\connectivity... in my phone the only option that appears in connectivy is "Install pc companion" with a check box.
Can anyone help me, i really want JB.
same system(win7/64bit) and same problem. anyone help please?
edit: my phone can't stay at flash mode more than ~30 seconds.
I was facing the same problem and I mentioned it in the start of this thread. Initially, I tried flashing it using the latest version of flashtool. Someone suggested me to use the beta version. I tried that too but I got the same error a couple of times. Suddenly, after few tries (about 7 - 8), the flashing finally begun. Here is what i did to solve my problem.
I was using flashtool 0.9.10.2 beta version, i downloaded 0.9.10.1 from the link on the first page.
Started flashtool-drivers.exe and installed all xperia S drivers + flashmode
Restarted PC and connected my phone in flash mode... at this time windows tried to install SEMC FLASH DRIVER but suddenly my phone couldnt be in flash mode for more than 30 seconds...
So i Unpluged my phone and started flashtool and did the same as before, the first time an error occurred when i plugged the phone in flash mode, but a message popped up to say that SEMC was succesfully installed... then i tried again and finally i have JB !
BTW i like it but i have issues with the camera shortcut, it does not open by pressing the side button or shortcut at locked screen
