Successfully flashed B35 EDL. Phone is unresponsive to any power or volume key presses. MicroSD card is removed. Still no cigar. Can't get the phone to be recognized as EDL mode anymore either. Phone detected with different USB port for EDL. Flashed again. Still nothing. Any suggestions? I still have the option of taking the phone apart, but that is a last resort if that makes the ability to RMA void.

I can feel the phone warming up when I plug it into a charger. That's the only sign of life I see in the phone.
You'll have to claim warranty... that sounds like dead storage. try another package maybe, marshmallow even. but i don't think it'll help too much

You have to press power for like 10 seconds after you flash via EDL for the phone to turn on.

Maybe a button is stuck? Something similar happened to me with a galaxy s3.

I'm at this stage now trying to get my DFU'd Axom back. I have successfully got it to be recognized as a Qualcomm 9008 in device manager and miflash sees it. After several attempts to flash miflash gets to the 3s mark under the "Time" column and then a red message appears saying "Catastrophic failure.........."

I can't seem to get past this part.

Damn, I never heard of a catastrophic failure ?
Do this, as soon as you get into EDL (You know, Qualcomm 9008) use EDL tool instead of MiFlash. Maybe it'll do its job

Well, I tried it again with a different MiFlash and EDL package and it worked. Now, my issue is the screen does not respond to touch. I'm going to open it up again and mak certain everything is in it's place which I thought I did prior to putting it back.

UPDATE:

Yeah, I've taken it apart again all the way to removing the motherboard and reassembling and the touch screen is not responding at all. DAMN. Could it be the software? Now that I am able to boot to the welcome [inital] screen and I have placed it in EDL mode and do have the other options after pressing the Vol up + Power key, is there a way I can flash something else?

UPDATE #2:

Took it apart again and I can not see any damage to anything inside so I am at a loss. Can't believe I got this far to have this happen.

UPDATE #3 (the saga continues):

I was able to flash TWRP and get into recovery and guess what...... the screen works! So, I'm thinking it may have something to do with the EDL rom I flashed.

Well, I've been trying to flash some roms and it gets stuck at the warning screen (software can't be checked for corruption..........). Tried the DrakenFX bootstack 35 and stocksystem 35 tried the boostack 19, sysyetm 19 and even BadBoys rom (I used to use a long time ago) and still stuck at that screen. Hope someone can shed some light on this, I'm so close..lol

WELP, I just may give up. got a bootstack/rom to work and I'm back at the Welcome screen but the screen is not responding to touch. WTH could be going on?

Yeah, this happened to someone else. Just try custom ROMs and then go back to stock if you feel like it. Install LineageOS 15 or 14.1 just like the guides say, and see what happens

May I ask which Miflash and EDL package you used to get a success?

Me, possibly? lol I have a gold a2017u board stuck on MM. it is stuck simply because when i update to Nougat via OTA, EDL, or sd card update, touch functionality is gone. no other board i have had has had this issue. it is my oldest board.

Well, I tried it again with a different MiFlash and EDL package and it worked. Now, my issue is the screen does not respond to touch. I'm going to open it up again and make certain everything is in it's place which I thought I did prior to putting it back.

Yes, it is the software. try flashing MM EDL and see if it brings touch back.

your guess is as good as mine. it makes no sense. the hardware is fine on mine, just cant upgrade beyond MM B29 (a2017u) and have touch functionality. That being said, there has to be a logical reason the touchscreen driver is borking on Nougat.

Just saved my brother's Axon 7, thanks a lot !
I still can't believe that a simple brick can involve hardware work ...
We just need ZTE DFU Software to make this a lot easier

so after I flashed, I will need to put the phone back together and press volup+power to try to enter recovery right? at the moment I have successfully flashed a couple times but I'm still not able to turn on phone or enter recovery... I tried holding volup+power, volup+voldown+power, voldown+power but the screen won't turn on, only red light and sometimes green light flashing

hi have tried multiple times with different edl packages and still can't get the phone to turn on. The flashing takes around 200 seconds and they all says successful. But when I try to turn the phone on, the LED flash red twice then green once in a split second then go off. Not sure that to do from here

i thanked you accidentally lmao

Did you brick the phone, or did it die by itself? If it was you, how did you brick it? What EDL files did you try? What model is your phone? Check on the back. It can be A2017, A2017U or A2017G. You have to install a package that works for your own device, otherwise it won't boot if it is locked (another question: is it locked?)
DO NOT flash a package that is not meant for your model as you will lose your IMEIs and you'll be in even deeper

I've been trying to flash my phone for the past 4 hours, I am still googling but I cant find out why my phone is listed as Handset Diagnostic interface(DFU) (COM3) and I tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling qualcom but no luck, I can only boot up my phone in edl mode and if I try to do a regular boot up it just shuts off, I'm guessing I soft bricked it but I don't really know. Any help would be greatly appreciated and sorry for taking up your time.

lol, no problem. This guide is still useful for some very specific use cases but there are ways to fix a DFU brick (i.e. what you have) without even taking the phone apart.

Btw swapping the drivers is not gonna do anything... Your Fiat with a paint job is never gonna be a Ferrari. Just uninstall whatever driver you installed and check "delete driver software" so that it goes back to what it was.

Download MultiDL from this forum and also the latest MiFlash, those two are probably the best combination right now. Or also you could download EDL Tool and attempt to flash an EDL package with it instead of MiFlash.

There are a couple guides on how to unbrick with that stuff, all I can tell you is you are NOT on EDL, but rather on DFU. Getting out of DFU requires a) taking the phone apart and shorting a pin as described in this guide, or b) using MultiDL (which wasn't present a year ago, that's why this even exists) which simply gets you to EDL as soon as you connect it to the phone.

Once you are in EDL mode (Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008) just use MiFlash to flash a full EDL file. Or EDL Tool, too. I usually have more success with MiFlash but try both

Right click on the Qualcomm QDLoader stuff and uninstall device, tick uninstall driver software too. After that try again.

Did you try using MultiDL before? If you were on DFU, it isn't needed to take the phone apart anymore in most cases because MultiDL takes you out of it.

Also try EDL Tool and the latest miflash version (or older versions) and it may work
