On step 9, I get a failed error on resize. The error is:

Code:
/sbin/e2fsck -fp /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/
system_b process ended with ERROR: 1
Unable to repair system

Anyone know how to fix this?

EDIT: I tried to install gapps after this, but it failed because of insufficient space. Went to check the /system partition size, and it only has 65MB free out of 1637MB. Is there a way to restore the original partition size and start from scratch?

hmmm.....interesting are you running the latest TWRP?

they were mostly for roms made for the device i was thinking a out changing a few of my devises to gsi's and they've never mentioned doing anything like this either. thanks for the quick response

Some stock vendor img partitions work for GSI...but not all, it just so happens that LOS 16 and 17 replace the vendor partition and work for most GSI's.

Descendant X works. I've been using it a few days but I'm also having more data issues than usual. It could be the APN or something and also some notifications don't work sometimes for some odd reason.

Are you using Magisk? Seems there were some problems with Magisk being flashed on that particular rom...no idea if that has been fixed tho...

just wanted to ask if the quad dac still works using GSI ROMs, I use the v40 as a audio only device and I love the HIM forced on. Have been on the fence about using GSI ROMs.

No, the forcing of him only works on our specific LOS17.1 Havoc OS 3.1 and Pixel Experience 10...it's a specific thing that was built into our version of those ROMs...the GSI'S don't have them.

It doesn't work anymore...

I have tried this multiple times, with both LOS 16 and 17 as the base rom, but it doesn't seem to boot a GSI image anymore. Is there an updated tutorial for this that works on later versions of android?

Or could there be a vendor/bass (get it) image that has been made for the v20?

I personally no longer have a working V40 I am using a Loner S10 until I can get a V40 once more...

Well, you can get one on ebay for $150-$200. Not that expensive at all. Go for verizon or the unlocked though. From what I've read, those two are the best

Mine I got for $150 because a corner of the back glass was cracked. I put an otterbox on it, no problem.

Just wanted to post and confirm that this guide worked for the following:
Device: Sprint LM-V405UA -> Crossflashed to Verizon (V405UA30c_00_VZW_US_OP_0814)
Base Flash: Lineage 18.0
GSI: Havoc OS 4.1 w/ Gapps

This is something i'm interested in as well. Where did you get the LOS 18 from? Is the one specific to the V40 here in this forum or did you use a GSI LOS 18 image?

Greetings everyone, i go by the name Ainz Ooal Gown. Here i bring you the a guide to flash GSI roms to your V40

Fist things first if you try this and end up with a brick or your device transforms and tries to take over the world; it's not my fault you messed up not me. So just read all of this thread not just the O.P to, and get out of a bind if you reply with "the thread is too long i wont read it please help" don't expect anything short of "there's a search bar use it"

    Requirements
    Unlocked bootloader
    TWRP

    Installation guide:
    1. You need to download Lineage OS 16 by Xsavi i recommend the build "lineage-16.0-20190914-UNOFFICIAL-judypn(More LG Stuff use this).zip". Put into your external SD
    2. You need to download a GSI from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development i personally recommend Havoc OS 2.9 and Resurrection Remix 7.0 download the Arm 64 A/B Variant and what ever recommended Gapps Package is linked.
    3. Extract the GSI you downloaded and copy the extracted Folder into your external SD.
    4. Boot into TWRP and check your active Slot in the reboot menu.
    5. Flash LOS 16 Install -> select the ROM zip -> tick Inject TWRP -> Swipe for install (if you're on a, it will be installed to b, and vice versa).
    6. Go to and select Reboot Menu -> select your inactive slot -> select recovery and you should reboot into your inactive slot.
    7. Go to and select Wipe Menu -> Swipe to factory reset
    8. Select install and navigate to your downloaded GSI -> select install image -> select the GSI image -> select the bubble next to "System Image" -> Swipe to Custom Flash.
    9. Select the wipe menu -> select advanced wipe -> select the square next to "System" -> select "Repair or Change File System" -> select Resize File System -> Swipe to Resize.
    10. Install any Gapps and/or Magisk and reboot.
You will probably have to add your Carriers APN settings for Data and MMS to work.
    Thanks to: @SGCMarkus @Xsavi

    Hello!
Maybe you have a dump system or stock firmware for twrp?
Or maybe there is an instruction for unpacking the kdz firmware

To unpack a kdz use SALT on linux, works best for me :)
