I'm confused,

If your on Sprint then there is no reason to use this guide. This is for if you want to use the phone with a GSM carrier like AT&T or T-Mobile.

Your phone should be set to auto and or CDMA/LTE.

Unlock means using on another carrier ;p

If your trying to get mobile hotspot to work and sprint blocks it due to plan, you'll need to buy an app like PDANet or something similar in the play store. But Sprint can still catch onto what your doing.

My wife's phone has been working great... Until it updated today ☹ as expected, i get Invalid SIM now after the update, and as was suggested previously, i went back into Hidden Menu to resolve the issue. However, now, after this miniscule update, the entire subset of settings are missing that are needed to perform the "unlock." I have no Field Test listed, and nothing that is available is remotely relevant.

Does anyone have a solution? Or is her phone now "network-bricked" back to Sprint?

What kind of update? What's the security patch date under settings? Is it a update that just came out? Or one that just never got around to updating?

Oh that's the Tribute HD no clue that's a pretty old patch I think my Tribute hd has had that for a long while and it works just fine. Did you factory reset?

Edit: hmmm security patch is still march? I wonder what changed in this update. Just turned mine on and an update popped up. I wonder if they patched it.

Edit: it seems it's now been patched for the Tribute HD.

Any way to roll back or downgrade it?

Im currently on ZVA for the G5. Today i received an update notification (110.4mb). Anyone know if its safe to update past ZVA ?
I tell people to never update. u never know what they will block. Change and never be able to roll back possibly.
On a root perspective zva is probly screwed for a few years until nougat becomes obsolete and one of those i cant believe we used it kinda things. But no hope rite now.
They may have blocked all the settings for unlock. Apn and everything else

I bit the bullet and installed it and I'm happy to report that there are no problems at all! I didn't have to completely re-do the unlock setting but I did have to re-enter the APN settings. Other than that small inconvenience everything's fine.

EDIT: I did the update on my wife's phone as well. Again no problems, and I didn't even have to re-enter the APN settings on hers.
