Nice guide!

Few notes:
1. Why did you write to run crackin.bat if you wrote later to flash the misc partition manually?
It's enough to use visionary (or z4root which had worked better in my case) to temp root, and than to flash misc1-2.img.

2. Instead of running step2 - I personally flash a custom ROM of my choice using fake flash CWM.

3. Because step1 is basically flashing a 1.31 RUU - some people do need a goldcard.
Only the following CIDs don't need goldcard:
cidnum: HTC__032
cidnum: HTC__A07
cidnum: HTC__K18
cidnum: HTC__N34
cidnum: HTC__Y13

Hey nice guide u got right there! BTW the goldcard link u provided, was invalid. So I checked the download section on the page and I found this

GoldCard Tool v0.0.7

Is this what I am supposed to download?

EDIT: Ok I think I know what I am supposed to download.

Another thing is that in step 6, u said

in the android sdk tools folder ,extract the hack for legend

so which means that I should extract the hack for legend into the android sdk tools folder right?

Also in step 9, I don't quite get what u mean by

Hey thanks for ur reply! I installed the SDK manager so do I have to downgrade to stock rom 1.31 first before I root? I saw a couple of guides that requires me to downgrade except this guide. So just wanna know if it is necessary or not.

Oh ok tks! But when I followed the steps and double click on the step 2 windows.bat, the command prompt showed a quick error and my phone just stays on the "!" screen, may I know what's the problem?

Yap I did, except one of the steps that I do not really understand, that's why I am not sure if I am doing it correctly or not.

while you are on sdk/tools shift and rt click and chose command prompt here

just open your command prompt then do the following

start > cmd

on the command prompt..

CD C:\AndroidSDK\platform-tools\
adb shell
su

then something will pop up on your phone, just click on "accept"

go back to the command prompt then type

/data/local/flash_image misc /data/local/misc1-2.img'

then press enter.. see screenshot for reference

Ok but one thing is that when I am done creating my goldcard using the goldcard tool 0.07, there wasn't any files in the disk drive except this same three files(LOST.DIR, android.secure and another file which I can't remember) but is it supposed to be like that?

yeah.. that's the only files that would be there.. (after patching the goldcard.img to your mmc) so you don't have to worry..

if you're sure that you have a working goldcard on your device proceed to the following steps..

1. run the RUU to downgrade your device (there will be no issues at all if you have a working goldcard)
2. turn your phone off and enter Recovery mode
3. press down the power button with "FASTBOOT" highlighted (it should already be highlighted) and now the letters "FASTBOOT" will have a red background
4. make sure your phone is connected to your computer and then click the file called, "step1-windows.bat" in the folder, "R4-Legend-Root" on your computer
5. after this has completed, your phone will still be in, "FASTBOOT" where you had originally left it. press the power button on your phone whilst, "BOOTLOADER" is highlighted in blue and then the volume down button so that, "RECOVERY" is now highlighted in blue. now press the power button.
6. now, making sure you have HTC Sync version 2.0.33 installed, open up the file called, "step2-windows.bat" on your computer. wait till its done
7. on your phone, using the trackball, scroll down to, "Flash zip from sdcard" and then click on the trackball. then click on, "rootedupdate.zip" and click again to confirm the flashing of the ROM. your phone will now begin flashing the ROM
8. click, "Reboot system now" and you will now have a rooted version of Android 2.1 with HTC Sense
9. install your desired customer rom thru CWM
10. ENJOY! ^_^
